My way to Lumbini brought me to one of the poorer parts of Nepal. Near the Indian border the land gets flat and people use that advantage for agriculture and industries with huge chimneys reaching up into the skies. The roads grow dusty and the bridges seem badly built. Lumbini itself is an oasis with canals and lakes. Peaceful. There’s monasteries from almost every country here. Even Germany built one. I guess buddha would be happy if he knew how people and nations come together at his birthplace. Staying in a Korean monastery gave me an insight into Buddhism. Into prayers and traditions. I’m going to miss getting up to the bells at 5:50 in the morning. I won’t miss having rice and vegetables for each of the three meals every day. I guess if I’d have the time I would have stayed a lot longer though. But the farm is waiting.Read more

    Pokhara II

    October 20 in Nepal ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

Pokhara - you’ve been good to me. The most delicious food in weeks, dreamy sunsets and magical sunrises, inspiring conversations with lovely people. It’s time to move on. Tomorrow I’m off to lumbini in search for buddhas spirit who is supposed to be born there! I’ll definitely be back.
