It was sleeting when I got To the top of the mountain! This is mile zero ( southern terminus) of the Appalachian Trail - I hiked almost 9 miles to get here 😜
ReisenderI know, right. It’s extremely remote - it’s not like you can drive there. It must be some forestry management bureaucracy (“our park ends here”)

Stayed overnight in the Stover Creek Shelter at mile 2,9 of AT which would make my total mileage for day 1 1.4

ReisenderI do have some, but that night I put all of my scented toiletries (and accidentally my earplugs) in the bear-proof locker. In hindsight I should have just gone and grabbed them

The final approach was nearly an hour of up-up-UP! Elevation 4452 here at the top. It’s the highest peak on the Appalachian trail in GA.
