It was sleeting when I got To the top of the mountain! This is mile zero ( southern terminus) of the Appalachian Trail - I hiked almost 9 miles to get here 😜
PelancongI know, right. It’s extremely remote - it’s not like you can drive there. It must be some forestry management bureaucracy (“our park ends here”)

Stayed overnight in the Stover Creek Shelter at mile 2,9 of AT which would make my total mileage for day 1 1.4

Rustic rock grave markers- hard to tell how old but very well maintained and welcoming to hikers - I was excited to find this curiosity

The final approach was nearly an hour of up-up-UP! Elevation 4452 here at the top. It’s the highest peak on the Appalachian trail in GA.
