  • Planet Arrabury Rd

    14. juni 2025, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Turned off the Diamantina Dev Rd on to the Birdsville Dev Rd for 54kms at which point we turned due south towards Tibooburra on the Planet Arrabury Rd. Quite a few cars heading north from Birdsville so plenty of dust!
This road had been closed due to flooding so we are hoping it is not too damaged.
Treeless plain with a lone emu. Fun fact: emus can run up to 50kph and swim up to 30kph!

  • Innamincka Road

    15. juni 2025, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Parts of the Innamincka Road have been closed since about April due to being washed away in the floods. We had hoped to get through to Tibooburra. We drove through the closed road sign hoping to get to at least the bridge over Coopers Creek. We got about 3kms down to where the road was badly damaged but unfortunately not to the creek. Turned around and headed east to Thargomindah.Les mer

  • Cunnamulla

    16. juni 2025, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Quick stop for lunch in this attractive little town on the Warrego River of about 1200 people.
Paying tribute to the region’s pastoral heritage, Aussie icon Slim Dusty often wandered the streets of Cunnamulla and popularised the tune, Cunnamulla Fella. In tribute to the well-known outback song, the giant Cunnamulla Fella is in the centre of town.Les mer

  • St George

    16.–17. jun. 2025, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Weather cooling down, bush camping without a fire is less appealing so we decided we’d treat ourselves to a motel in St George.

St George, on the Balonne River, is the business centre of the Balonne Shire, a large primary producing district. Major rural products include cotton, grain, sheep, beef cattle and even grapes. It is also known as the Fishing Capital of Queensland.

The next morning we’re back on the road towards home.

  • Thallon

    17. juni 2025, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

The silos mural showcases icons of the district in the Moonie River and one of the amazing sun sets. It also recognizes members of Thallon’s Indigenous Community by the inclusion of a scarred tree and celebrates the area’s Agricultural base.
In 2015, the town of Thallon decided to build a large statue of a northern hairy-nosed wombat as one of Australia's Big Things to attract tourists and to highlight the critically endangered status of the species which had once inhabited the Thallon area but is now extinct in that area. The statue is 2 m × 3.5 m.

  • Northern Tablelands

    18. juni 2025, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

We stayed at Inverell last night, it was very cold, so we put up the gazebo and plugged in our little fan heater.
Leaving Inverell onto the Guyra Rd, stopped at Guyra Bakery for an early lunch.

The Northern Tablelands region is a distinctive highland area with undulating hills, valleys, plateaus and mountains straddling the top of the Great Dividing Range. With an average elevation exceeding 1000 metres above sea level. As there had been plenty of rain, the streams and creeks were all flowing and the surrounding farmland was very green.Les mer

  • Ebor Falls

    18. juni 2025, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

The Guy Fawkes River plunges 100 metres over two waterfalls at Ebor Falls. There are three lookout platforms along the edge of the gorge upper falls, lower falls and valley view giving spectacular views out into the rugged gorge country.
Beautiful spot with all new facilities.
