    First sunset

    Walked down the beach in the shallows for coffee this morning, then out for brunch with Alice. We then went back to her house, which is wonderful and met Oink, her cat. He is lovely and quite skittish at times. Afternoon by the pool, during which the cloud cleared, giving us the first taste of sunshine and the first sunset we have seen since being on the island. Another very good venue for dinner and sampled gin and tonic with chilli!Læs mere

    Morning and evening

    This is the view from the bottom of the villa complex we are staying in. The island is fairly quiet as still winter so some businesses etc have not reopened yet. Plenty of choice though for eating. Alice has taken us somewhere different each night, last night was a local Thai.Læs mere

    Another day in paradise

    There seems to be an endless supply of beautiful tropical beaches here. We drove to another one today, although the driving can be interesting. The concrete roads follow the contours of land and so you can be driving up a steep hill and at the top you have no idea where the road is heading as it straight down again plus or minus a bend. Fortunately there is little traffic. This evening Alice took us to another beachside restaurant for cocktails and dinner watching the sunset.Læs mere

    En route home

    Spent our last full day on the island yesterday relaxing by the pool and in the sea. Cocktails with the sunset then a very good pizza. Brunch with Alice today before she drove us to the ferry to take us to Koh Samui for tomorrow morning's flight to Bangkok then Heathrow. Booked into a good hotel overnight on Samui with time for one more sea swim.Læs mere
