Day 5, Colonia

Colonia pingponged between Spain and Portugal five times over 150 years. Wow! It’s importance was control over the enormous River Platt. What remains is a beautiful Uruguayan city with a UNESCO historic district. Cobblestone streets. Rows of trees. Mate. A lighthouse. Very pedestrian friendly (as long as you watch your uneven step). Our guide, Fabian, served us mate, and helped us understand Uruguayan life, the stability of the government, voting as a party/reunion, and dinner at 11:00 (pm!)Lue lisää
