Roosevelt Memorial

One of Mom, Dad, Papa, and Clara's favorite memorials was this meandering beauty. I think it speaks to our Tenessee Valley heritage. Roosevelt"s dog "Fala" was almost attacked by a local pooch which was quite funny.Okumaya devam et

Martin Luther King Memorial

This was Millie's jam! Her knowlege of MLK helped her really enjoy this memorial. We had fun at the exit watching her read every quote. Then we wraped up the day with some silly photos.

It's snowing!

The girls were beside themselves with the prospect of snow and Mother Nature did not dissappont. We met Myla's friend Olivia at the Washington Monument to play play play. They built 2 snowmen "Trump and Ivanka" hoping they would make it on TV. Turns out many tourists took their picture between the snowmen. The adults just tried to huddle up close to the memorial to stay warm. Dad was a trooper and helped gather snow for the snowmen. It was beautiful to see the National Mall in white.Okumaya devam et

United States Capitol

Our pre-arranged private Capitol tour with Congressman Rogers office was awesome. Debby, our guide, made the most of our 2.5 hour tour. At one point Milie tried to sit down..Debby quickly told her "no time for sitting." She took us to both the House and Senate Galleries, the Visitor's Center, the Rotunda, the Statues Hall, the underground train and so much more. We got to see the Senate in session which was only Senator Durbin talking about TrumpCare for CSpann. So interesting! This was a real highlight of the trip.Okumaya devam et

Clara was geeked out about this stop but a wee bit disappointed you could not actually touch the books. The Jefferson Book Collection was her favorite. The gift shop consumed alot of our time here. What can we say, book nerd sovineers are cool.Okumaya devam et

Smithsonian Museum of Natural History

This was Myla's favorite museum. She enjoyed the insect lab, evolution of man, and gem stone exhibits. Millie loved all the interactive kiosks and the Mummy exhbit. Clara was impressed by the teen hands on exibit and all the cool specimens you could see under a microscope. Mom liked the deep ocean exibit. Papa was still a fan of the Hope Diamond. The Whitehouse

We made a bone chilling trek to the Whitehouse our last day in Washington. The wind was brutal but it was worth it. We made our way around the Treasury Department to the front lawn past lots of security. Papa recognized the outdoor latern right off the bat. Colonial Williamsburg Day 1

Our first day was quite cold which limited the crowds- a real plus. All the houses had fires going and even outdoor fire pits. Joe really liked all the craftsmen who were in apprenticeship programs. It warmed up and the girls enjoyed it! Clara liked the Wythe House, our traditional colonial meal, and the British troop parade. Myla liked all the shoppes and of course the heirloom chickens. Millie enjoyed the childrens science experiments. Everyone watched an outdoor play about the life of Caroline Hershey, first female astonomer. Papa loved the Brick Maker craftsman. Who knew bricks turn red during the hardening process not because of red clay! Check out the baby lambs born the night before.Okumaya devam et

We drove 9 hours to Papa"s house then another 4 hours home. A long travel day but worth it to have a recovery day before school and work. Everyone agreed this waa a fantastic trip-- jam packed with wonderful experiences and memories.Okumaya devam et
