Great day traipsing round Arles on the Van Gogh trail. Followed by a wonderful meal out. Then this sunset greets us on the way back to the gîtes.

Amazingly preserved medieval town with pink lakes
PengembaraIn fact, the reason why the salt marshes in Aigues-Mortes (and anywhere else, for that matter) seem to be full of pink water comes down to the food chain. The pink water comes from a pink algae (Duanaliella Salina) which lives in it. This pink algae can exist in just about any kind of natural body of saltwater.

Today we have visited the mental institution Van Gogh admitted himself to. Still a functioning institution, although I'm sure it's moved with the times.

Amazing spot. Great value at 9 Euros. Could have spent all day there enjoying splashing in the river.
Very hot climbing to the top. The bull terrier was exhausted!

A day in Champagne

Relaxing day pottering about in the Champagne region.
Views, a few war cemeteries, and a different cave visit. More focus on palaeontology than champagne, although we did still get a glass!
