House Sitting part 2

Splitting up all these sits. Les mer
  • Reisens start
    1. september 2023
  • Bremerton

    1. september 2023, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 77 °F

First sit for part two. We traveled to the Pacific Northwest for the first of September to take care of three show quality golden retrievers. Stayed a couple nights with Kylan and got to share some puppy love with Beck.
The house sat on the shore of a small bay in Puget Sound with a beautiful view and a great vegetable garden. The sit was 12 days, but then the HO returned and left with two of the dogs to a show, so we stayed another 4 nights.

  • Glass bridge

    11. september 2023, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 72 °F

We had a brief stop at this Tacoma landmark on the way to pick up the homeowners. Beautiful vases and other blown glass items created by artists Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra, and Preston Singletary.Les mer

  • Blue Oyster Cult

    21. september 2023, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 86 °F

Upon arrival back in Phoenix, my good friend Ed invited me to a BOC concert. It was a lot of fun, but very eye-opening as to how long the band has been around. A lot of grey hairs and bald heads 🤪 Not just Ed's 🤣
Head East was the opening band.

  • Western Passport Agency

    2. oktober 2023, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

Lost our passports.😬 One week before our Bahamas departure, we realized that our passports were nowhere to be found. We were somehow able to gather all the necessary paperwork and even get an appointment at the Tucson office in time to still make the upcoming flight from FLL. We took the trip to Tucson to the WPA to get our replacements. Super friendly and efficient. We had a 10am appt that we showed up 30 minutes early for. Walked out at 9:50. Return at 1pm to collect documents. YAHOO!!!
We did a little sightseeing in old town Tucson while we waited to collect.

  • Beach walk

    4. oktober 2023, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

After the whole passport fiasco, we flew the next day to FLL. What was supposed to be two nights at my sisters turned out to be just one. The morning of our departure, we all went to the beach for breakfast. Beautiful day and great company. Afterwards we jumped on a puddle jumper to Eluthera 🌴Les mer

  • Surf lesson

    6. oktober 2023, Bahamas

I guess if you're staying in a place called Surfers Beach, the right thing to do is surf. The problem is, I don't know how. So I took a lesson. Problem is, the waves are big here 😬😳. At least the beach is nice.Les mer

  • Glass Window bridge +++

    9. oktober 2023, Bahamas ⋅ ⛅ 86 °F

I'm not sure why it's named such, but after renting a car, we drove N. to see the spot where the turquoise waters of the west side sneak through to the deep blue waters of the east side. Just south of the bridge is an impressive blow hole. 😳 And near there, someone has concrete a Cadillac hubcap to a rock. Oh, what fun to be a tourist. 😏Les mer

  • James Beach

    14. oktober 2023, Bahamas ⋅ 🌬 86 °F

After a fun lunch with neighbors at a local watering hole where we all took turns looking at the solar eclipse, we set off on our own, and found this gem of a beach ⛱️

  • Lighthouse Point

    16. oktober 2023, Bahamas ⋅ 🌬 82 °F

At the southern tip of Eleuthera, there is a beautiful beach ⛱️ that may soon be ruined by a Disney cruise port being built. You already have to park and walk two miles to reach the tip. It's called Lighthouse Point, but while there is a navigation light and a house, I wouldn't really call it a Lighthouse. Even though the weather was windy and overcast, the walk to the point was protected, and the sea was quite calm. Unfortunately, with the wind, there was not a lot of swimming.
We did not make it home before dark, so the last hour of driving was quite stressful.

  • Between the salt ponds beach

    21. oktober 2023, Bahamas ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

We were both not feeling 100%, but it was a beautiful day, and we were a little restless after two days of rain. We were told there was a beautiful beach at the end of the road between the Salt ponds, so we went looking. Our first stop was not that impressive, so we walked a little farther. Wow! great spot except for the waves crashing on the shore. We tried to time it between the big ones, but it was a fail. Luckily, glasses and hats were located, and no one got hurt. Taylor had a good time. Back at the house, Bill caught a dove.Les mer

  • Gaulding Cay & Queen's Bath

    26. oktober 2023, Bahamas

We went to Gaulding Cay because we knew it would be calm enough on that side of the island for leisure stroll. And it's near Lenny Kravitz's home. From there, we heard about the impressive waves on the other side at Queens Bath. Normally, you would come see and enjoy these pools on a calm day and at low tide, but we came to see the huge waves crashing ashore during high winds and tide. I don't think even royalty will be enjoying these today.Les mer

  • Seahorse National Park

    27. oktober 2023, Bahamas ⋅ 🌬 81 °F

This inland sea water lake claims to have the highest concentration of seahorses. Despite the strong winds and partly cloudy skies we decided to go look for seahorses here. The water was a little choppy and stirred up, but we managed to spot many sea snails 🐌, corals 🪸, fish 🐡, a huge crab 🦀 the size of a platter and arms over a foot long, and one seahorse 🐴 just before we called it quits. We were quite cold by the end. We went from there over to Hatchet Cave, but opted not to go in after all. Good choice considering what happened later.Les mer

  • Unca Genes

    27. oktober 2023, Bahamas ⋅ 🌬 82 °F

We met a lady (Cheryl) from FL while walking the beach at Gaulding Cay the day before. She told us about a guy who teaches music to youth on the island, and they perform every Friday at Unca Genes and invited us to join them and another couple. So we did.
The kids did a great job putting on a show, and a good time was had with the six of us.
    That's where the fun begins.
As we were finishing up and getting ready to say our goodbyes, up walks a young local guy to tell us that Lenny Kravitz was at the bar around the corner. Anna went all googly-eyed and about jumped out the window to go see. We all went down there, and sure enough, there he was, along with a small enterage. He was staring in a commercial advertising some tequila brand. He mingled with the crowd, including us. Anna got a hug, and we shook hands and talked briefly. We got some pictures before he went to work pouring shots from behind the bar.
Afterward, we took care of the animals before heading back out to a bonfire on the beach.

  • Leon Levy Preserve

    28. oktober 2023, Bahamas ⋅ 🌬 82 °F

This place started to enable the preservation of native flora and fauna of the Bahamas. Still a work in progress, but they are trying to get the 89 endemic plants to grow here, and have a large collection of all the native plants. Especially plants from Eleuthera. Taylor enjoyed walking the almost three miles of trails. I don't think she ever saw a turtle before. 🤪🤣Les mer

  • Cathedral Cave

    1. november 2023, Bahamas ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

To get to Cathedral Cave, you have to walk past what is called the boiling hole. One of Eleutheras many "Blue Holes" It was anything but blue. However, reviews said Catedral Cave was a worthwhile visit. Since we wanted to visit another place in the area, we decided to check it out. It was worthwhile. Lots of bats, even though there was plenty of light in the cave. There were also some very cool looking spider webs.Les mer

  • Snorkle spot

    1. november 2023, Bahamas ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

After the cave, we headed to Half Sound. We were told the snorkling was incredible there. We drove as far as we could, but the road became impassable for our rental car. We got out and walked to two different access points, but neither had incredible snorkling. Not sure where the correct spot really is. 🤔 We did see many Queen conch, some small barracuda, some really cool jelly fish, a few very strange shrimp(?), and a sea turtle. So it was not a total waste. We also found two awesome huge shells and discovered the hideout for the Turtle Bay Beach Club. ⛱️Les mer

    9. november 2023, Forente stater

Due to Bills passing, I spent a week in Phoenix on our way to San Francisco. I was only going to be there 1.5 days so i could see REO Speedwagon in concert, thanks to and with my good friend Ed. I still saw the concert, and I got to know Anna's cousin Joe more.Les mer
