    September 8, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Today was one of our favorite days. The weather was perfect for our 22km walk. This morning we left our Tipi and tonight we are staying in a castle from the 16th century .... weirdest thing ever ....no one was here when we arrived. There was a key and a note at the reception desk. No one is in the town or in the castle with us. So tonight we sleep with ghosts. Today's Camino is brought to you by perfect skies, olive gardens, sharing shoes and abandoned castles.Read more

It was my favorite dinner.

    September 12, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Today we all struggled for many reasons....after our large homemade pasta last night we all had so much energy and did our first part of the 25 km walk in 1.5 hours this morning. But then....Claudio, our favorite Italian wanted to try Domino's for the first time , the after Domino walk was so difficult. The view at the top was gorgeous though. Now we are in Navarette and met up with a new Musical Dutchie named Geert.
Today's Camino was brought to you by being "in the zone" , Domino's, Germany hitting a wall, and a Dutchie creating songs about our adventure. Song will be produced at the end of the Camino!

  • Ezcaray Spain

    September 14, 2024 in Spain ⋅ 🌙 4 °C

Last night Rob and I decided to have a date night in a Spanish Basque town named Ezcaray . I was hoping to see if I could find any piece of our heritage for Escaravage. In Spain my maiden name is Escaravago. We hoped to walk through the cemetery to look at the headstones but it was closed. We did see one name similar but otherwise no luck. Regardless we had a wonderful date night!Read more

  • Santo Domingo de la Calzeda to Belorado

    September 15, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Today Robbie and I walked alone after our date night in Ezcaray as it is off the path. We had great convos, but it was so very hot and because it's Sunday, everything was closed. Halfway through the 20km we finally found a place that sold hard boiled eggs, bananas and beers by donation. It all tasted heavenly!
At the end of the long walk, our hostel was awesome and it even had a pool.... 6 degree cold plunge but so good. Today's Camino was brought to you by hot dusty roads, cold plunges, blister care vending machines, beard clippers, New York Damien, laundry that doesn't dry and sore knees.

Today our 22km walk took us through fields and concrete. It was chilly and walking on the pavement through an industrial town for 8km was hard on the body.
