Final Day

We set off from the hotel on the outskirts of Troyes at around 7.15am, fuelled by a quick coffee and croissant, naturally. We made good progress through the quieter French roads skirting Reims, reaching Calais just after 11am—perfect timing for the midday ferry.

The crossing, though in the ‘quiet lounge’, was anything but—thanks to an exuberant group of French schoolchildren. Still, we docked back in the UK by 12.30 local time, refuelled, then battled some M1 traffic before pulling in at home by 5pm.

A little weary, yes—but our heads are full of incredible memories from a brilliant month exploring Italy and Switzerland. What a trip.Read more
