  • Kalbarri

    26 Mei 2025, Australia ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

Another travel day as we head north to Denman , Monkey Mia etc.
Ended up at Kalbarri almost by mistake, but looks a nice place on the coast & Murchison River.
Managed to sniff out the local Brewery called Finlays which was a great little place with good beer and excellent food.
Video of fire is from last night, but it's worth it for the quality of wood!

  • Denham-Shark Bay

    27–31 Mei 2025, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Travelled up to Denham-Shark Bay for a 4 night stay. With Monkey Mia just up the road and a host of tracks in the national park, this looks to be a very promising place. Sunset did not let us down, the photos don't really do it justice.Baca lagi

  • Skipjack point - Francois Peron NP

    28 Mei 2025, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

Left Denham town for Eagle Bluff & Cape Peron in the Francois Peron NP.
Uneventful trip until we hit the 58km of 4wd track. Trev and the Toyota handled it beautifully, particularly after we aired down to 16 psi. Made a massive difference.
Got a good snap of a shark in the bay.
Tomorrow is meant to be a massive rain day, according to the locals. (20mm 🤣)
    Monkey Mia after that...

  • Monkey Mia

    30 Mei 2025, Australia ⋅ 🌙 22 °C

Predicted rains have come mainly at night, but it's been threatening all day. We went on a catamaran out of Monkey Mia and managed to see dolphins, turtles and dugong, along with heaps of birds.
Yesterday we went to the ocean aquarium which was pretty good with all the varieties of fish, sea snake's, stone fish, but their shark feeding was seriously piss weak world.
Monkey mia is a bit commercial now, but well worth seeing.
    Off to Gladstone Bay tomorrow

Quick trip up from Denham to Gladston bay camp. This is a no frills, self sufficient camp where you pick your own spot for $10 pp per night. So we did!
    A lovely beach outlook.
We'll spend a couple of days here, maybe do some fishing.
Stopped off at She'll beach on the way through, a beach made completely of small cockle shells. Who'd a thought?

A wet and muddy drive into Quobba Station.

  • Quobba Station day 2

    3 Jun 2025, Australia ⋅ 🌧 23 °C

Didn't get more than a couple of hous sleep last night as the wind came up suddenly. I'd left the awning up and not only did it rock the van, I fully expected the awning to fly off at any second. Got a lull in the wind at about 7.30 am and whipped it down. Also had a fair bit of rain to make the tracks that bit harder and dirtier as we explored. We aired down the cars (and vans) to 28psi for the corrugations. Quobba blow holes and a couple of beaches on a wet and windy day. Some of the storm waves here are awesome!
Found the best blowhole at another beach completely!! (First video)

Drive up from Karijini NP to Port Hedland. A lot of road trains ( 4 dogs and 200 tones), but the UHF radio coms with the drivers made for easy passing. Massive road trains carrying iron ore, and plenty of them!
Staying in the free camp at Port Hedland Turf club for 2 nights, basic but free!
