Walked about 200 yards
Plaza children playing and a desayno #2

People have been encouraging me to try Spanish hamburgers so I figured this would be a good time to do so and they were right they are quite yummy

I do have to say that it was funny thing to watch by the time it struck Two o'clock that whole Plaza became dead and deserted in the matter of maybe two minutesRead more

This train is a speed demon!!
Definitely booking over 130mph 🚄😄

Basically four days of my planned walking went by in a blur in about 30 minutes

Apparently Leon has nothing to do with lions but rather the name derives of one of the old Roman Legions that had lion for its mascot if you will

Another total cool eclectic collection of these old and new streets but I'm very much close to the old town so you get those little tiny whining streets just like in Burgos and Barcelona

The Cathedral of Santa María de Regla de León is a temple of Catholic worship , episcopal see of the Diocese of León , Spain , consecrated under the patronage of the Virgin Mary . It was the first monument declared in Spain by Royal Order of August 28, 1844 (confirmed by Royal Order on September 24, 1845).
Initiated in the XIIIth century, itis one of the greatest works of the Gothic style, with French influences. Also known as the Pulchra Leonina, which means ‘Beautiful Leonese’, León Cathedral is mostly known for taking the “dematerialization” of gothic art to the extreme, that is, the reduction of the walls to their minimum expression to be replaced by stained glass, constituting one of the largest collections of medieval stained glass in the world.Read more

And so the distance shortened....
On the retrospect there are 2 Yong French girls in my room who have been walking for 53 days
They started in France on Le Puy-en-Velay Camino which runs for 736km before joining the Camino Frances at St.Jean Pied-de-Port

Adieu León

I decided to take advantage of having no crowd at all and I was passing by the cathedral anyway so I stopped at the plaza to take some pictures and low in behold I heard Hey Peregrino! and it was Luis
He is really putting on the miles making over 30 KM a day planning to be in Ponferrada by the weekend and that's where it ends for him
He told me that Eva, Josh and Aidan are probably three days behind and that the German couple with the baby should be in Leon either today or tomorrow...
We got out of town together and had desayuno in next town... and then he ran.... 😄

TravelerYou can bet your bottom dollar that it ain't local farmers 😏 like it or not some equipment simply disintegrates we all know that nowadays the products are not made the way that they used to so hiking close to five hundred miles and for some people even more than that and where they started takes its toll

I'm not sure if I am really in San Miguel de Camino
the sign said it was but I think the town is still some distance away
Anyway fast-break for a refreshing drink a little bit of energy and finishing off the pizza

The ugliest walk so far

This is by far the ugliest walk I've had
most of it was right along the highway and it was just a bismally icky...not to mention the quite hot day with very few places that afforded shade

Travelerhaha I think I am there too. The ups and downs of the Camino one day it’a fountains and vistas the next truck stops and bi-ways. It’s fun to follow your Camino posts as a year later we walk ours. xo

This is a very cool albergue! Arthuro the owner and his wife actually live here and all the paintings on the wall are done by pilgrims
if anything they encourage anybody who can paint to paint 👍😁

So I went out to take a look around the town a little bit didn't cross to the other side of that bridge; it does look pretty cool ... very old bridge in any case Arturo told me to go to eat in Los Angeles restaurant which I will do so shortly but meanwhile he said go to the owner and tell him that Arturo sent you and go ask to see the grandfather house which is almost like a museum now ....which is what I did 😁
quite fascinating stuff 👍

As far as the town goes this is some quite cool little place
I wish I had a chance to explore some more
