An Olympic Sized Holiday

Today’s outing was to Wisley Gardens. We decided to go today instead of tomorrow due to the weather forecast. On our trip down we were very confused by the traffic. It’s a Tuesday and school has gone back so there should be nobody, right? Wrong! We passed a sign saying that it’s the first day of the flower show. Oh crap - that requires pre-booking. Thank heavens for mobile phones and the internet. I’ve looked up the problem, Kirsty is busy driving us to the parking (the 5th overflow lot!) and Auntie Toni quickly books a ticket in the open timed entry. Crisis averted! As we went through the gates, the man checking tickets was very impressed by Auntie Toni having them all out and ready and asked “Are you always this organised?” He didn’t really understand our hysterical laughter!

It was a lovely day. The sun finally came out. The gardens were extensive and there was even a fun flower arranging section.

There were lots of different sections to the gardens. I loved the cottage style gardens and the wide borders. The glasshouses were fantastic with lots of plants that I would see in Australia. Hard to believe they weee growing so well in the south of England. There was also a whole vegetable garden that was both practical and pretty. I did get a giggle out of the “Plant crèche” for those that need to buy plants and have them looked after for the day.Baca selengkapnya
