Today another one of our dreams came true, we explored Arches National Park and it did not disappoint.
It is very hard to describe the vastness of this place, it is HUGE as are all the rocks and arches. It is very reminiscent of outback Australia with a couple of major differences in that Arches is on a much larger scale and it snows here. And today was freezing but we didn’t let that stop us though I think we preferred being cold than stinking hot.
The only part we didn’t walk to was the Delicate Arch as there is a part where you have to walk along a very narrow rock ledge with steep drops off either side and can be icy in winter. We will decide before we leave if we will attempt it. We saw Delicate Arch from a viewpoint so we can say we saw it. And Devils Garden as this was the last stop and we had been on the go for 7 hours, with no lunch and we were totally stuffed.
There will be many blogs for this part of our adventure
Park Avenue and Petrified Dunes
Courthouse Towers
La Sal Mountains
Balanced Rock and Garden of Eden
North and South Window
Double Arch
Delicate Arch
Fiery Furnace (you need special permit to hike here as it is full of slot canyons)
Sand Dune Arch
Tunnel Arch
Pine Tree Arch
Landscape Arch
Views on the way out of the park.
And while typing this blog, we realised that we missed a turn off for Broken Arch and Tapestry Arch. We gave it a good go and saw some amazing sights today.Leer más
