Section 5 of our trip was tough. Really tough. Possibly more tough than the longer day of yesterday. Mentally it was hard because of yet more terrain where we were having to take care where weLäs mer
We had a few sights today, including, as per our map guide, a “superfluous stile” and “unnecessary gate”. But we also had a lot of pretty countryside too.

The final stretch was really rather hot and also quite pretty, and actually also quite familiar compared to the riverside paths we are used to from Reading.

We’re a third of the way through the trip tonight having completed over 60 miles. Today was probably the day I’ve felt best so far.

The banks of the river were lined with boathouses from the university colleges but we didn’t see any actual rowing today. I guess the students actually do some study some of the time at least.
