After a (relative) sleep-in and then breakfast provided by Andrew, we headed off to the Sir John Soane Museum, which was the epitome of the collection of a compulsive collector. Instead of leaving his house and belongings to his one surviving son, he left it to the State. You can only wonder at how he lived in such a cluttered house! And the terms of his will stipulated that the house remain the way it was when he lived in it.

We then wandered through various gardens (what we would term parks) along the Embankment to Victoria Station, then back to peaceful Islington, via a drink at Wetherspoons pub. Cheap maybe, but pretty ordinary surroundings.

Andrew provided us with a really delicious (vegan) dinner. I could easily become a convert!Read more
