Fort William Day 2

Our second day was a bit of a no-day, as we spent 3 hours doing our washing! The laundry was a 20 min bus ride away and then waiting for the washing and drying to finish … at least we went for a walk in between, along Loch Linnhe.

We had the first thing go wrong when we received a late email from MacsAdventure saying that the Jacobite steam train trip was cancelled because it was ‘fully booked’. We knew this could not be right as we had our seat numbers from months ago! Not only that, but we were advised that we’d been booked on a much earlier ordinary train (giving us no time to have breakfast then walk to the station), and we would have 3 hours to kill in Mallaig before catching the ferry to Skye …

John sent off an email saying we were not happy; I checked out the story with. The train and found that due to breaches of OHS the train has not been running for at least a couple of weeks! So we should have been told earlier and been given the right reason. To add insult to injury, they emailed Craig last night (Australian time) so by the time he got back to us we’d already got on to them.

Anyway, it all worked out: Macs will reimburse us for the taxi to the station and the guesthouse will give us an early breakfast.
