  • Edge Resort, Kalbarri WA

    19–21 Eki 2021, Avustralya ⋅ 🌬 19 °C

Kalbarri is located 570 km north of Perth via Geraldton.

Kalbarri is a popular holiday and retirement town surrounded by one of the most beautiful regions of wildflowers in Australia. Although the coastline around Kalbarri was explored by Europeans in the early seventeenth century the actual town of Kalbarri did not come into existence until 1951 and since then it has grown to become a popular tourist destination with fishing, swimming, bushwalking, organised cruises and a range of activities designed for holidaymakers including the impressive Rainbow Jungle, Australian Parrot Breeding Centre and walks in the beautiful and dramatic Kalbarri National Park.Okumaya devam et

  • Kalbarri Coastline, WA

    19 Ekim 2021, Avustralya ⋅ 🌬 19 °C

There are a series of roads and walking trails leading to some outstanding locations along the coastal cliffs. This is some of the most beautiful and spectacular coastline in Australia. The cliffs rise over 100 metres, the shapes of the gorges and the promontories are impressive and dramatic. It would be easy to spend a day exploring all of the paths which lead to the cliff faces. It seems as though every few hundred metres there is another sign inviting the visitor to inspect dramatic cliffs with names like 'Eagle Gorge', 'Shellhouse and Grandstand', 'Island Rock' and 'Rainbow Valley'.Okumaya devam et

  • Pink Lake, Port Gregory, WA

    19 Ekim 2021, Avustralya ⋅ 🌬 17 °C

Port Gregory is located 513 km north of Perth via Jurien Bay and Geraldon and 48 km north west of Northampton.

Port Gregory (now known as Gregory) is a tiny settlement where convict history, fishing, wheat lands and ‘getting away from it all’ holidaying all mingle. It is an unusual setting. Wheat fields grow next to huge white sand dunes, an historic convict settlement stands on the shores of a pink lake, and a reef runs parallel to the coast forming a natural breakwater for a small harbour.

The Hutt Lagoon, which lies just behind the town and covers 70 square kilometres, is a remarkable pink lagoon which is coloured by the presence of algae known dunaliella salina, a bacteria which lives in the salt lake and is the source of the beta caratine which is extracted from the waters. The colour of the lake changes from red to pink to lilac, depending on the time of day, time of year and the cloud cover. The ideal conditions occur during mid-morning or sunset on a sunny day. The lake is mined both for its salt and for its food colouring properties.

  • Horrocks Beach, WA

    19 Ekim 2021, Avustralya ⋅ 🌬 17 °C

Horrocks is located 488 km north of Perth, 74 km north of Geraldton and 22 km west of Northampton.

Horrocks (also known as Horrocks Beach) is a town in transition. Once the northernmost of a series of tiny holiday-fishing villages it was untouched by modernity with simple fibro holiday houses, streets which had grown out of the sand dunes, and a simplicity of life which seemed to belong the 1950s. Today, thanks to transportation and a desire to find a piece of paradise "far from the madding crowd", it has an impressive beachfront (parklands, play areas for children, modern facilities) and Glance Street has a number of new, large houses with spectacular, panoramic ocean views. The small population increases dramatically in the crayfish (rock lobster) season and during school holidays. It is a true holiday destination for families, surfers, anglers and birdwatchers. There is the added advantage of the local reef system which encloses the beach making it more like a lagoon.Okumaya devam et

    20 Ekim 2021, Avustralya ⋅ 🌬 21 °C

Between August and October it is covered in spectacular displays of wildflowers; the park is cut by the elaborate and spectacular twists and turns of the Murchison River which has an 80 km-long gorge; in recent times the Kalbarri Skywalk has allowed visitors to step out beyond the 100 metre-high cliffs; and there are remarkable geological formations including Nature's Window, The Loop, Z-Bend and Hawks Head.Okumaya devam et

Unique Benedictine religious community in the wheatbelt.

New Norcia is located 130 km north-east of Perth via the Great Northern Highway.

When the Benedictine Monks established their mission on the banks of the Moore River they named it New Norcia after Norcia in Italy which was the birthplace of the order's founder, St Benedict.

New Norcia is a little piece of the Mediterranean in the Australian bush. It is a combination of a monastery, schools, a church, a hotel, a working farm, a beehive, wells, an art gallery and a museum. It has remained fundamentally unchanged since it was created in the late 1840s .

Free camp at New Norcia Monastic Community off the Great Northern Hwy.
Need to be fully self-contained. No amenities.

Tom Price is located 1469 km north of Perth via Newman or 1546 km via Geraldton and Carnarvon. Dubbed 'Top Town in Western Australia' because it is 747 m above sea level, and thus the highest town in the state.

Tom Price (both the town, the mine and the mountain) was named after Thomas Moore Price, the vice-president of the giant United States steel company Kaiser Steel. Price was one of the main initiators and supporters of the opening up of the Pilbara region to iron ore mining.

Tom Price is an attractive purpose-built town in the Inland Pilbara with tree-lined streets, modern facilities, an impressive Visitor Centre, and a relaxed country-town atmosphere. Once owned by the Rio Tinto mining company it is now owned and run by the Shire of Ashburton.

  • Quobba Blowholes Camp, WA

    15 Aralık 2021, Avustralya ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Located 24 km north of the town is a turnoff to 'The Blowholes'. The Blowholes (the plural is relevant - there must be 20 or 30 of them) are just south of the point where the road reaches the coast. This is 75 km from the town. The road crosses some large sand dunes and the traveller is greeted with a huge sign declaring: 'KING WAVES KILL'. This is not a casual warning. Surprise king waves have caught and drowned a number of visitors. The Blowholes were first discovered by Europeans as recently as 1911 and since then they have become a popular tourist attraction. They are reliable with the swell from the Indian Ocean being forced through the rocks. On a good day the spray can reach a height of 20 metres.

Overnight stop enroute to Falcon, WA.
Strong southerly wind blowing, bringing the temperature down to a very pleasant low of 20's °C.
Dog-friendly site with drop toilets, Dump Points & Rubbish Bins.

  • Dongara, WA

    16 Aralık 2021, Avustralya ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Dongara is located 351 km north of Perth via Lancelin and Jurien Bay.

When the townsite was surveyed in 1873 it became known, although not officially, as Dongara from "Dhungarra" or "Thungarra" which supposedly meant 'a meeting place for seals' or 'place of the fur seals' in the language of the local Aborigines. Dongara was adopted as the official spelling in 1944.

Dongara is a charming fishing village and quiet, family holiday resort at the mouth of the Irwin River. It is characterised by some impressive historic buildings and a main street with handsome stands of Moreton Bay and Port Jackson fig trees. The trees were planted in 1906 for a total cost of 16 shillings and four pence. Dongara is a delightful holiday resort town which is famous for its excellent rock lobsters and its casual atmosphere.

  • Miami Cvan Park, Falcon, WA

    17 Aralık 2021, Avustralya ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

Falcon is a southern suburb of Mandurah, located southwest of Mandurah's central area and with frontage to the Indian Ocean.

Grassed site with small shade cloth gazebo facing the estuary. Public path runs along edge of sites and can be quite busy. The night before we left the park, a bicycle was stolen from a cvan a couple of sites up from us. The park owner was apologising to everyone. The police had been informed and a report lodged. But to be honest, I'm surprised that was the only thing that went missing in the fortnight we were here. People don't seem to be very security-minded with their gear and leave everything out in the open....possibly forgetting that the sites are open to public access via the shoreline and pathway.
Lots of prickles, flies and annoying people.
The first week was great. We only had 1 neighbour in our entire row and she was a self-confessed "Cougar" (71yr) and her Toy Boy "Mel" (56yr). We had a hoot listening to Doug's stereo singing to all the 80's tunes when the day cooled down. We had 4 x consecutive days of over 40C and when the temp. did drop it was only to 39C.
The Thursday before Christmas saw the park fill ..... we had neighbours on both sides who were friends and used our site as a thoroughfare, and had no issues shouting at each other across the top of us. Was not pleasant at all.
An older couple in an 18yr old Winnebago "Timbuktoo", Dolce & Alan, from Kendenup, moved into a site opposite us. They had been on the road for 18yrs. Dolce liked to talk and considered herself a font of knowledge in all things. I did pick up some good tips but had to filter those gems from the rest of her chatter.
We spent most of our time back & forward to Rhi's in Baldivis trying to figure out how all our stuff at her house was going to fit into our rig! Needless to say, there is still quite a bit of gear at Rhi's that will need to be packed into the sea container. Her lease expires end of February, so it will be a now issue, rather than a later issue.
