  • Argentina Take 1

    March 30, 2024 in Chile ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

We headed up a curvy road to the boarder of Chile and Argentina. We stopped at a small booth and they gave us a little piece of scrap paper with our license plate and the number 3 for 3 people and we kept on driving. We ate at a small place on the way. After driving for awhile we pulled up to a guy blocking the road and we gave him our little scrap paper. He explained that we needed to have stamps on it and we would have to go back 16 km to the boarder control center to get the stamps. We made our way back and got the first stamp without a problem. The second stamp we had more problems with. Even though our car was new and we had all the paperwork we needed the registration wasn’t showing up in the system yet. I went upstairs to talk to the boss lady and she said there was nothing we could do to leave so we wouldn’t be leaving Chile today. We decided to try again anyway with only 1 stamp. We got to the guard in the road and he explained that we needed more stamps and we would be arrested if we tried to pass. We turned around and decided what to do next. We headed back to Santiago to try to take care of the paperwork situation and get the car in the system.Read more

  • Bosque Santiago

    March 31, 2024 in Chile ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

To make the most of our time back in Santiago we took a hike to Cerro Polanco. It wasn’t very far from downtown, but gave a nice view of the city. Afterwards we went to the mall for some food, shopping, and of course, chocolate cake. Who doesn’t love chocolate cake after a hike?Read more

  • Back in Santiago

    March 31, 2024 in Chile ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

Well we are back in Santiago after being denied entry to Argentina. We will be heading to the civil registry tomorrow to see if we can get the paperwork sorted out for our car and try to leave again later this week. I did a puzzle while at our Airbnb and it matched the sunset 🌅Read more

  • Renconada

    April 1, 2024 in Chile ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

We had quite a stressful day at the registry sorting our shit out and begging them to enter our car in the system. We made progress and got the document we needed to cross the boarder. We also went to the vet to make sure we had everything we needed for Esmerelda to cross. We didn’t want any reason to be denied again. Our Airbnb has a beautiful garden with tons of roses and fresh grapes, so it was nice to arrive and settle in.Read more

  • Hot Milk

    April 2, 2024 in Chile ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

We went out for breakfast in Los Andes and the breakfast meals we ordered were huge. They came with a bunch of different things including a massive piece of lemon cake, cookies, tea, coffee, juice, eggs and bread. When we were done eating the waitress was surprised that we didn’t eat and drink every little thing. I grabbed the mango juice and finished that, but she also commented on the hot milk we ordered for the coffee. It must have been because we paid extra for it ($.49). She made us feel guilty enough that we needed to finish it all. This is the aftermath.Read more

  • Cerro Las Herreras: Abandoned

    April 2, 2024 in Chile ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

On the way down from our little hike there were a few abandoned buildings. We decided to walk over to them to check them out. It was heavily spray painted, but looked like at one point in time this would have been a nice home for someone with a really amazing view on the hill.Read more

  • Flaherty Wines

    April 2, 2024 in Chile ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

After our little hike we went to a small family owned winery. The dog was named Chewbacca and the cat was Luke Catwalker. The owner, Jen, showed us around and gave us a tour. Her husband Ed is the wine maker and they are originally from Napa. We tried 3 different red wines and bought a bottle to go.Read more

  • Argentina Take 2

    April 4, 2024 in Argentina ⋅ 🌙 -2 °C

We started our journey early in the morning, hoping to get through the boarder smoothly this time. Most of the treacherous curves were done in the dark this time (all 29). We got all 3 stamps in under 30 minutes. They didn’t even ask for any kitty paperwork this time!

Once getting through into Argentina we had a set of 13 tunnels to drive through. We made it to our Airbnb and went out for some lunch. After lunch, we walked around the lake at their Central Park. We stopped and smelled some roses too.

  • Cachueta

    April 8, 2024 in Argentina ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

After our hike we headed to see Cachueta and the hot springs. We stopped at a place that had just ham and cheese sandwiches so that is what we ate! They did have cake and desserts too. We didn’t want to wait to get into the hot springs because it was going to be 45 minutes. We headed back to our Airbnb after taking a few photos of the view.Read more

  • Sedona: Bell Rock

    May 8, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

I love the red rocks, but especially this hike. We hiked farther than I ever had before, so there was a lot of booty scooting on the way down. I might have even ripped my pants 😳
