  • Blue@tofo Tofo Beach

    17 november 2022, Mozambique ⋅ 🌙 25 °C

After a long crazy drive including a police bribe we arrived at our beachside accommodation. It's amazing with deck chairs, a pool, a lovely room and we currently have the place to ourselves. The dive shop is just next door. I hope we haven't used all our luck!Meer informatie

  • Manta Bay dive 1

    18 november 2022, Mozambique ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

First Mozambique dive. I was a bit nervous after 3 years and we had to do a negative entry from the zodiac and a deep dive. That was after launching the boat into the surf and jumping in. Vis not great but we saw lots of big fish including huge potato cod, frogfish, rockfish, pipefish, trumpetfish huge Morey eels, big school of amberjacks, cool starfish and lots of little things. Dive masters were all great and a family teaching their Mum her advanced.Meer informatie

  • Giants Castle - dive 2

    18 november 2022, Mozambique ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

More relaxed for the second dive. Spotted a school of dolphins 🐬 during our surface time. Similar stuff to the first plus peacock Manta shrimp, big lionfish (also on the first dive), geometric moray eel (small and shiny). The group saw a Manta but someone swam straight at it so it went away and I missed it. Luckily we were on nitrox so got extra time and a second came by and hung around turning and coming back to us more than once. Very lucky. A rough ride back to then roar straight up the beach. Time to hang by our pool now!Meer informatie

  • Dive 3 Giants Castle

    19 november 2022, Mozambique ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Awesome dive again. 2 giant mantas with a spectacular close encounter for the second one. During our safety stop we had 3 devil rays circling just below us. Lots of other things including ornate Eagle ray, ornate spiny lobster, Golden trevally school and honeycomb moray eels.
The weather wasn't perfect but we got rewarded for our efforts and it was just us and the dive staff, Liv, Rea and Sophie so we felt very safe.

  • Mikes Cupboard Dive 4

    19 november 2022, Mozambique ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

After being treated to bottlenose dolphins playing in the waves during our surface interval, we finally decided on a shallow dive. Mike's cupboard didn't disappoint with hundreds of nudibranchs, harlequin shrimp, crocodile fish, too much to mention. Liv is brilliant at finding things for us.Meer informatie

  • Down day in Tofo

    20 november 2022, Mozambique ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Unfortunately too windy to dive. Instead we enjoyed a nice relaxed day checking out Tofo Beach. Enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and our private resort then made our way to Happy's for a delicious vegan lunch. I also enjoyed a lovely yoga class that I walked up the beach to in my bare feet. Swam in the ocean, read books and just hung about until dinner back at our favourite restaurant with Freddy the waiter.Meer informatie

  • Giants Castle Dive 5

    21 november 2022, Mozambique ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

After waking up quesy and losing our dinner from last night we managed to get on the boat and back out to Giants. The giants weren't there today and there was an unexpected reverse current that we swam against for the whole dive. We still saw lots of cool things including a leaf scorpion fish just flapping around, big schools of fish, big lionfish, fish hiding in crevices trying to escape the current, eels and lots of cleaner shrimp.Meer informatie

  • Simons Town Dive 6

    21 november 2022, Mozambique ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

After spending considerable surface time searching for whale sharks with no luck, we descended into Simon's Town. A fun easier dive with the usual suspects including rays, flatworm, bearded scorpion fish, huge spiny lobster, crocodile fish, nudis, white mouth moray eel. Considered heading out for an ocean safari in the hope of whalesharks but our tummies couldn't cope. Did absolutely nothing all afternoon and skipped dinner. Nick was in bed before sunset.Meer informatie

  • Leaving Mozambique

    22 november 2022, Zuid-Afrika ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

Time to head back to SA ready for our flight back to Australia. I woke up at 4.15 again but decided to go outside and watch our final African sunrise. Beautiful! A long drive back to Vilanculos after skipping breakfast. Watched the President land in Vilanculos and get transferred to the waiting helicopter with all the singing and dancing that goes along with that. Something a bit different.Meer informatie
