The oldest Karst settlement with homes dating back to prehistoric times.
It's still lived in today and houses the beautiful Ferrari gardens plus beautiful household Veggie gardens.

Country roads ride

Today's ride included the Castle, some stunning forest roads and a cute church in the middle of nowhere.
The riding is fun and we are seeing all sorts along the way. Loads of Veggie gardens.

We almost skipped this because it's so touristy and busy. Chris recommended we didn't. He was right. It was just incredibly large and beautiful.
We took a train in and still walked for 1.5klm.

We did get to see some practice and the horses are beautiful.
Škocjan Cave

They didn't allow photos in the cave. The cave was enormous, but the cool part was the Reka river flowing through. The hike out was stunning.

The remainder of the year it's gorgeous pasture and gardens.

A series of bunkers and tunnels built into the side of the sink hole, used during the war to defend territory against Yugoslavia.

The remainder of our 58klm ride rode us past Repunsels Tower and another amazing cave. A good rain shower spiced up the little bit of single track on the way home.

We drove through lots of rain and the dark last night to our MTB hotel.
So we had no idea how beautiful it was until we woke to this. We are right on the Austrian border.
Petzen Downhill Park

Why not drive to Austria for a few hours of downhills? Apparently, it is one of the longest flow trails in Europe. It was definitely smooth! And fun!!

Fun single tracks right from our farmhouse. Lots of roots! Some very slippery from the rain as displayed by Nick. His knee is still good! He fell on the other side into nice soft dirt.

This was a cool experience. Firstly, the tiny, dark, bumpy train ride in and then we walked down lots of stairs. It was then time to change into waders and walk and kayak through the old tunnels.

An exploration ride with Chris. We managed to dodge the rain, but our feet were soaked from riding through the flooded tracks.
We stopped in to the local dairy for a cheese snack on the way home.
