Today's tour was a good combination of snorkeling and a short hike to watch some rare birds. We went to Punta Pitt.
First snorkeling was good but freezing cold so I was happy to get out of the water after the second round of snorkeling. Today we did not see as much as the day before but it still was fun. In the afternoon we went for a short hike and saw red- and blue-footed boobies. I am generally not the bird-watching type but it's different here. In addition Punta Pitt has an amazing landscape - rocky and not as flat as Santa Cruz or the main area on San Cristobal. All in all another perfect day!Read more
If you think about the Galapagos this animal is probably the most prominent. On the island Santa Cruz they are also on the streets and come with different "houses" and sizes. I also tried to be one for a few minutes and I am happy that I don't have to carry around my house all the time! 😊
During our snorkeling trips we also saw some swimming with us!Read more
Today was the first of our three tours - kicker's rock and snorkeling with hammerheads! Despite the wildlife and landscape under water was amazing. And I survived my first snorkeling experience in deeper water. 💪🏻
Hope to get underwater pictures from the other snorkelers soon!Read more
Together with the turtles and turtoises they are the oldest creatures on this islands. The come in all different shapes and sizes and are basically everywhere. What I did not know, they love to swim in the ocean!Read more
Beautiful colours and also everywhere on the islands are these small creatures. Look at the colors!
Today we discovered the Highlands of San Cristobal with our host Pepe and his son-in-law (and maybe the future Govenor of the Galapagos). After seeing a Laguna in a volcano crater, watching the giant 🐢 eating and the beautiful Playa Chino (where we even saw two blue-footed boobies 😍) Pepe invited us to their family farm. We had a delicious lunch there and one of the best coffees that we have ever tasted and got a full tour of vegetables and plants they are growing (Papaya's, coffee, avocado,...). sad thing - today seems to be butcher's day for a few chickens there. At night our fridge was full of chicken in bags...😅😑Read more
In the morning we had a boat transfer from Santa Cruz to San Cristobal. During that we saw a lot of birds and dolphins. Our host Pepe picked us up from the port and showed us around. He is an amazing host! San Cristobal is different than Santa Cruz with different plants and vegetation and also is the island of Hernandez's 😋 they all love to pose for pictures!!
In the afternoon we went for a small hike to Playa Puenta Carola, went snorkeling with sea lions at Bahia Tijeretas and Playa Baquerizo. The sunset was beautiful with a delicious Endémica - craft beer, of course endemic, to the Galapagos. 🍻Read more
For the last day on this island we went to see Tortuga beach another time and actually spend a few hours there relaxing and taking pictures of baby sharks. After that we went to Las Grietas, which is a perfect spot for snorkeling and discovered a salt Plantage along the way. This island is very beautiful!Read more
Day 2 was all about exploring the Highlands, the tortoise farm and the lava tunnels. Afterwards we went to two beautiful beaches - Playa de Garrapaterro and Galapagos beach with playa Mansa. Both beautiful and we also did a short kayak trip at Playa de Garrapaterro and saw pelicans and baby sharks...the islands are just stunningly beautiful!Read more
Everyone always talks about animals when thinking about Galapagos. I can so much understand that but in addition the nature is also very beautiful! See for yourself!
