After arriving we spend an relaxing day at out rooftop and got a first glimpse of the country....it is dry, very dry and architecture looks different. The omanian do not really use street names or numbers and also have a lot of resort style accommodations, tailor made for tourists...also went shopping and all people here are so generous and friendly - it is very nice to be welcomed this way!Read more

We did it - we finally tried guniea pig...not sure what to say. The taste itself is good but it's a little bit strange that the whole thing is served incl. the head that is looking at you. 😂
Additional some more delicious food that we tried - pancakes as breakfast in the hostel, coca tea, helado queso, empanada and so much more! And we still have not tried everything that is out there!Read more
We did a day trip to the beautiful colca valley. The tour advertised that we will go to the canyon...but that did not turn out to be accurate...nevertheless we spend a full day in the countryside of Peru and got to see the beautiful nature, inca terraces and some alpacas.
The Peruvians for sure know how to promote the number one tourist attraction alpacas, dressed up for a good picture...Read more
After arriving in Arequipa with an early flight we participated in a walking tour around the city to get a first impression. A beautiful city!
Peru is our speed-up country. The country is huge and we do not have enough time. First stop is Piura, but only for a night and afterwards we will travel to Lima for another night. We have a longer stay ahead in Arequipa. Therefore only a short post.
In Piura we tried some of the typical Peruvian food: leche de tigre and delicious beer (the dark bottle is a black beer that has a bit of a taste of chocolate).Read more
And another full day trip! 🤗
Today we went to the Isla Española. It's a beautiful island with thousands of naszca boobies, albatrosses and hawks and other birds. Our guide was amazing and gave us a perfect introduction about the birdlife. After an amazing lunch we went snorkeling with sea lions. If you turn and blow bubbles in the water they love it and really interact with you! That was the most amazing experience for me and I could have stayed there for at least another couple of hours. In the evening we went out for the last meal on these beautiful island. We don't want to leave this wonderful place!Read more
After spending so many days with sea lions I have to say that it is hard for me to decide if pigs are still my favourite animal. After naming the first sea lion Hernandez, they are all Hernandez's now. They are very curious and interactive with people, it's funny to spend time on a beach with them lying and swimming next to them. One day we thought that one of the sea lions is sick because it was coughing heavily, we later found out that they swallow stones in the morning in order to be able to dive deeper. And they all have a lot of babies!!!
I also decided to stay here as I found a new family! Sea lions adopt me! 🤗Read more
