Coin Caves

I’ve been looking forward to this since I planned the Camino. It was awesome although I don’t think the pics do it justice
Traveler Looks amazing , if a bit creepy . Why is it called the coin caves.

REEBANOCO aka SharionThe Coin Caves (Grutas da Moeda) in Fatima, Portugal, are named for a legend about a wealthy man who was robbed and fell into a cave while carrying a purse of coins. The coins scattered and were lost, leading to the cave being known as the "Cave of Coins". The specific sinkhole where the man fell, called the "Algar da Moeda" (coin sinkhole), also contributed to the name being extended to the entire cave system.

Lisbon again but just for a day

Today I wanted to finish what i started so this morning I caught the bus back to Lisbon. I had 3 things on my list and I did them all. Now for those that know me well you will know I hate lifts, enclosed spaces and heights. So today I went up the tallest building in a lift to a 360 viewing lounge and bar. (Where I had a beer) I followed that with a cable car ride yes suspended over the river on a bit of wire in an enclosed box. I finished off with a bone rattling tram ride around Lisbon and then stopped for a bit of Brazilian dinner on the way back to my hotel. Tomorrow I’m off to Faro !!Read more

Lisboa Oriente to Faro

I left Lisbon this morning on the train to Faro. I’m sad to say goodbye to Lisbon it’s such an amazing place. The first few pics are from the travel hub Oriente. I arrived in Faro and knew I wanted to go to the cathedral to climb the tower and see the chapel of bones. I then discovered there’s a bigger chapel of bones so I did that too, plus a couple more churches. I visited the tile museum (for linda), harbour and castle wall (that’s all that’s left of it ) I’m off to bed soon as my transfer is 4.00am arghhhh !!Read more
