Last full day at the Kootenays

Today was our relaxing day. It started out with a 9am ferry, and we were off to Ainsowrth hotsprings for a massage. It was awesome to pamper ourselves! When we finished our massages, we decided to take a dip in the hot springs. These hotsprings are very cool with a cave attached to them that you can walk through, as well as sit in. I didnt like staying in the cave too long because it was so humid. But there was a cold plunge pool that I could cool off in and do it all over again.
After spending a while at the hot springs, we drove back to Kaslo, had a quick bite at the Bluebelle Bistro and continued on our way to see the S.S. Moyie. This is the largest existing sternwheeler left in the world. It is very fascinating however Chris and I tend to get bored by those types of things. Once we toured the whole place, we got an ice cream, and left town.
We got to Ainsworth about 45 minutes early for our dinner reservation so we hopped back in the springs while we waited. We had dinner at the Ktunaxa (tuna-ha) Grill in the hotel. Although this was the most commercialized dinner we have had since we've been here, the food was still very good. Chris had a ribeye steak and I had soup and a panini. We got bannock bruschetta to start (which was the reason we came here) and as it turns out, the bake their bannock instead of frying it. Boo. On the plus side, their creme brulee was awesome!
We left Ainsworth and headed for the ferry. Replay of the Nakusp trip all over again! We had about 13 minutes to make a 15 minutes trip to the ferry before it was supposed to leave. We got there as the last truck was boarding and missed our turn. We took a wide turn into the ferry terminal and luckily the lights were still green. Even if we did miss this ferry there was one more leaving in 1 hour and 50 minutes. I'm glad we made this ferry!
We loved our trip to the Kootenays and would love to come back to see the things we missed, but as for tonight, we are missing home, our family, friends and fur-babies.Weiterlesen
