Sometime in April 2020 four friends had the idea to join together for great sailing adventures. We have left our current home, Tromso behind with Solenya a 32 foot Mikkel. The plan is to reach Scotland, but for now we follow the sun. Leer más

    16 de junio de 2020, Norwegian Sea ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

Now we are heading to Trondheim full speed, or at least we try for the next 220miles. Mostly we have been eating a lot, sunbathed went for swims and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets. Oh yeah I almost forgot and started a band or we are just going totally loco here 🙈😂 Great days and beautiful colours ⛵⛵❤️Leer más

  • Lazy days

    14 de junio de 2020, Noruega ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Although we have not been doing much, we all feel a little lazy, so we decided to anchor and stayed around another cool island for two nights.
We are quite the adventurous group, something always happens 🙈 This time it was Jenka and Lauti, they decided to go onshore and explore the island for few hours, but somehow they forgot the tide and by the time they came back the dinghy has drifted away, well that's was a fun rescue 😁 Great hikes and fun to explore another island, can't say that I haven't got a few brusies. Went for a little swim, and I have to say we are all getting better with the cold showers. Also cleaned the beach, its so sad to see that some of the waters are crystal clear, yet the beach in covered plastic. At least that's a good task while sailing, to clear some of these beaches, and to focus on a more plastic free future. Now it's time to head to Trondheim ⛵⛵⛵Leer más

  • A little Island ️

    13 de junio de 2020, Noruega ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

After few hours of not making much progress, we decided to anchor and get some rest. The plan was to wake up fairly early and leave, but that never happened. This island was truly magical, crystal clear waters, beautiful cliffs and we had sunshine, temperatures around 25 degrees. I think when you see the pictures, you will understand how we fell in love with this place. After exploring the island, sunbathing, collecting tasty blue shells for our dinner, we even went for a swim. I have to say finally I'm getting better with this cold water, as I lasted some minutes in the water. We had a great day, and we were quite ambitious as we decided to leave the island. We made it a whopping 3.5miles until we decided that we are too tired and not moving much, so yeah we anchored again. Another beautiful island and a tasty tasty dinner, also we waved goodbye to midnight sun 👋👋🌞Leer más

  • Glomfjord

    11 de junio de 2020, Noruega ⋅ ☀️ 7 °C

Wow what a view to wake up to and enjoy a cup of coffee and breakfast. We are ready to venture out, thanks to Lauti we got a car. Just when we thought summer is here we realised there is still some snow, and in fact some tunnels are closed 😂 The roadtrip was amazing, and of course a little dangerous as Lauti was driving 🙈 But as you all know we like to live life dangerously. We discovered glaciers, endless views of mountains, waterfalls and just enjoyed the beauty of this magical place. After an adventure packed day its time for dinner, and there is no better way then spending time with the locals, so we met our Norwegian Grandma and had a great dinner party ❤️ Look at this delicious pie we made, followed by lots of ice cream 🍨😋 We had a great chat, some knitting tips and lots of cuddles with Iris😻But at one point sometime after 1am we had to make the most of the good wind, I'm not sure how we even mananged to leave Glomfjord. We love it here so much I can definitely say I will be back ⛰️❤️Leer más

  • Glomfjord we are coming

    10 de junio de 2020, Norwegian Sea ⋅ ☀️ 10 °C

Great sailing day, good wind, sunshine and lot of laughter. Our estimated arrival to Glomfjord was in the afternoon, but somewhere along the way we started to drifted around. We used this peaceful moment to read, knit, sunbath and to work a little on Solenya. We always dream of some nice sailing pictures of Solenya, so with Jenka we went for a little paddling adventure, we even found a volleyball and cleaned the beach a little. It's hard to believe, but all the Halibut is gone 😋 so it was time to catch another fish, and this time Lauti got as a tatsy Haddock. The views of Glomfjord are truly unbelievable, but around 11pm we were happy to anchor and discover a little treat waiting for us on the shore. Having access to a sauna and a real nice shower was great ending to a beautiful day. We are all so excited to explore this little hidden gem tomorrow ⛰️❤️Leer más

  • Bye bye Lofoten

    9 de junio de 2020, Noruega ⋅ ☀️ 8 °C

We woke up to a beautiful sunny day, so we had our tasty breakfast outside 😍 Hennigsvaer has contributed a lot to our Solenya trip, besides great memories, some great materials to repair a few things, so now we have a complete new bed in the front cabin. Look even Molly tried to help us with some repairs. Hehe the locals were more helpful, and we are so thankful as they cut the wood. Luckily we had time, as we don't have a working engine, we had to wait until the tide was changing, so we can row Solenya out of the harbour. Around 6pm we manged to safely leave Hennigsvaer behind, and I must say we are famous with the locals, as rowing a sailing boat out got many people very interested 😀 Today was full of suprises, for sometime we have been disscusing that we should get some more gas, but of course we didn't. So just as we left, I was ready to heat our dinner, and guess what? Yes of course we run out of gas 😂 Lauti took one for the team and went back with the dingy. After all he deserved a nice cocktail 🍹🍹Now we are ready, to find our next destination, where we can look for new adventures. I'm luckily in the morning shift and the wonderful waves helped me to dirft into good night sleep. Bye bye Lofoten, hope to see you soon👋👋👋Leer más

Today we had time to chill and meet some friends, have a little chat and cuppa. We didn't have the best weather, but we still went for a hike and enjoyed the lash views. And guess what we had for lunch 😋 more Halibut. Molly was very thankful for the tasty bites too 🐶 Marlene and Molly decided to join us for a sleep over, so it was time for game night 🍷 🃏🃏 Great company, good wine and plenty of games, we had a fun night ❤️Leer más

  • First glimpse of Lofoten

    7 de junio de 2020, Noruega ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

After enjoying the midnight sun, views of Lofoten and finally some wind. Rain started to catch up with as in the morning, and the peeks got covered in clouds creating mythical views. We had rain behind us, and view of strom in front so we hoped to escape the storm and find a little more shelter in the channel. After a few days of sailing day and night, the days are starting to wash together, but we already done 196 miles ⛵⛵ Time to get some rest and to escape strong winds we have decided to stop in Hennigsvaer. The locals gave as a warm welcome and even came to our rescue, as with no wind and current in the harbour, we struggled to get in. After a rainy day its time to cook a tasty fish soup and warm up. Its been a rainy evening so we decided to organise the ship, fix a few things and get a good rest before we start tomorrow's adventures.Leer más

  • Summer day in the Arctic

    6 de junio de 2020, Noruega ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Saturdays for sure was a beautiful day starting in the Channel, which was a very calm, peaceful and super charming in the morning. We had midnight sun, rain, lots of clouds and sunshine again 🌞 The wind didn't pick up much, so our luck varried, as we did sometime between 0.3 to 7.5knots in one day. After the girls night Jenka went to wake up everyone and never returned 😴😴 guess the cabin was just to comfortable, so I had a peaceful morning for myself. Basic boat life, caught a cod fish to supply tasty lunch, had at least 2 cups of cappuchino, and enjoyed the weather, which was amazing, at 6am was already 15 deegres and it was only getting warmer. Soon it was time to get the bikini out and sunbath in the bow, and every now and then I checked the charts trying not to run Solenya on the rocks 😅 After all the coffee, sunshine and some good tunes, I couldn't hold my excitement any longer and around 10am I decided to wake everyone up. We all enjoyed the sun and the never ending Arctic views. At one point in the afternoon there was just no wind, so for me that can only mean one thing, its time to get the fishing rod out. At first I caught a small cod fish, but soon after a real treasure hooked on. It was quite funny, as I just said wow I wish one day to catch a big Halibut. At first it felt unbelievable and a struggle, as my rod lost some screws (this must be Ronans doing although he still doesn't admit 🤔😂) but anyways the reel was not functioning the best, but after around a 15 mins fight we started to see something slowly coming up to the surface. At this moment I saw my biggest catch and I couldn't hold my excitement anymore, like a little kid I started screaming and jumping as I saw a Huuuuge Halibut. I think I should attach some part of the video, so you can all see 😂 Well as you can all imagine this beast barely fit into the boat and made a huge mess, we planned to go for a swim the whole day, so to celebrate the moment with Jenka we jumped in the water. Brrrr can't say it was not cold, but we are getting more and more use to it. Finally we got some wind again ⛵⛵ Saturday felt like a real summer day after the long and sometimes cold winter days, it was a real treat. Of course we will eat Halibut for days, as it weight 11kg. Nevertheless, fresh fish can never get boring, we had some fried and tomorrow we plan to make a tasty fish soup. After an exciting day I had to catch up on some sleep, so the others started the night watch, around 2am I woke up to the stunning views of Lofoten and I knew it was time to change shift and enjoy the midnight sun. Anyways, thats a new day and another story to tell.Leer más
