Driving through very changeable country that is in good condition. Fat cattle. Good roads, not much traffic and diesel all north of $2.80 per litre.

Very interesting country, very variable. The only town was Marla. It had a pub, policeman & roadhouse. Glorious day, got to 20 deg , down to 6 degrees tonight. SA / NT border 20km south of Kulgera.

Anglican Church supported by the Bush Church Aid. Closed in the summer months.

Most house / dug out yards had the most amazing collection of "stuff" - old car bodies, tractors, mining equipment.....

There was an extensive example of an opal mine. Ken went through it all. I did the very shortened bit!

An interesting town, focused on opals, both selling & fossicking. Lots of dug out homes as well as ordinary houses. We visited an Aboriginal art gallery that had some beautiful canvasses. VeryLæs mere

We drove through stoney country, much like around White Cliffs. Coober Pedie has a population of 1700 - 3500, according Google. I guess that would account for the opal fossikers that would come & go.Læs mere

Left the farming country this morning & into the outback. Travelled through Pt Broughton, Pt Pirie, Pt Augusta, Pimba & stopped at Lake Hart, with a lot of other caravaners!
