It's pretty amazing to get into the water and literally SIT DOWN and float around without any raft or floating device! Talk about having SOFT SKIN.....boy do you feel like you have the softest skin EVER after you float around for a bit!Weiterlesen

  • The Mount of Olives

    2. Mai 2023 in Palästina ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

View from and of The Mount of Olives----
First mentioned in the Bible as the “ascent of the Mount of Olives” (2 Samuel 15), it is referred to in the book of Zechariah in the prophecy of the end of days (Zechariah 14).

The Mount of Olives is frequently mentioned in the New Testament. From it, Jesus entered Jerusalem at the beginning of the last week of his life (Matthew 21:1; Mark 11:1). Two days before the Crucifixion, in his so-called Olivet Discourse, he foretells the destruction of Jerusalem and the end of the world (Matthew 24–25; Mark 13; Luke 21).

We walked the very road that Jesus walked.....to visit the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed just before he was betrayed by Judas Iscariot (Matthew 26; Mark 14), is on the western slopes.
Finally, after the Resurrection, Jesus is reported to have ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives (Acts 1:9–12); Luke mentions that the Ascension occurred on a location there near the village of Bethany (Luke 24:50–51).

I can't wait to see how my reading of scripture will be so much different, having seen first hand the locations and archeological findings that verify EVERY WORD of scripture!!!

  • Temple Mount

    3. Mai 2023 in Palästina ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

We visited the Temple Mount and the impressive Dome of the Rock.

The Temple Mount (Hebrew: הַר הַבַּיִת, romanized: Har haBayīt, lit. 'Mount of the House [of the Holy]'), also known as al-Ḥaram al-Sharīf (Arabic: الحرم الشريف, lit. 'The Noble Sanctuary'), al-Aqsa Mosque compound, or simply al-Aqsa Mosque (المسجد الأقصى, al-Masjid al-Aqṣā, lit. 'The Furthest Mosque' and sometimes as Jerusalem's sacred (or holy) esplanade is a hill in the Old City of Jerusalem that has been venerated as a holy site in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam for thousands of years.

The Temple Mount is the holiest site in Judaism. According to Jewish tradition and scripture, the First Temple was built by King Solomon, the son of King David, in 957 BCE, and was destroyed by the Neo-Babylonian Empire, together with Jerusalem, in 587 BCE. As no scientific excavations have ever been conducted on the site, no archaeological evidence has been found to verify this.

The Second Temple was constructed under the auspices of Zerubbabel in 516 BCE, was renovated by King Herod, and was destroyed by the Roman Empire in 70 CE. Orthodox Jewish tradition maintains it is here that the third and final Temple will be built when the Messiah comes. The Temple Mount is the place Jews turn towards during prayer. Jewish attitudes towards entering the site vary. Due to its extreme sanctity, many Jews will not walk on the Mount itself, to avoid unintentionally entering the area where the Holy of Holies stood, since, according to rabbinical law, there is still some aspect of the divine presence at the site.

  • Western Wall and Western Wall Tunnels

    3. Mai 2023 in Palästina ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

What a LIFETIME EXPERIENCE in a quiet moment of prayer at the Western Wall also known as the “Wailing Wall” or the “Kotel”, is the most religious site in the world for the Jewish people. Located in the Old City of Jerusalem, it is the last remaining outer wall of the ancient Jewish and an incredibly important site of modern Israeli history.

We also went through the tunnels of the Western Wall and were able to touch and pray at the site that is the closest to the Foundation Stone. Traditional Jewish sources mention the stone as the place from which the creation of the world began. Classical Jewish sources also identify its location with that of the Holy of Holies.

  • Yad Vashem

    4. Mai 2023 in Israel ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

We began the day at Yad Vashem, the museum of the Holocaust; how incredibly humbling it is to better understand the miracle of Israel's revival and return to the Land, as promised by God.
I felt God speaking to me deeply here at Yad Vashem. This quote on the wall is something we all need to be reminded of...

A country is not just what it does.....it is also what it tolerates!

  • Calvary

    5. Mai 2023 in Palästina ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

I can't put into words what this trip has meant for me and the ways God has spoken to me so deeply!!!

This afternoon, we followed the Way of the Cross out of the Damascus Cate to the Garden Tomb, the site of the crucifixion and Jesus's Resurrection!!!!

Sisters of Zion Monastery is believed to be the site of the remains of Antonia Fortress (Jesus trial/ judgment). This could be where soldiers played sport with their prisoners. I took a photo of The Kings Game, which is etched into the pavement. This is where it is believed that Jesus was punched, beaten, and flogged.

We walked into the Tomb where Jesus rose from on the third day and culminated our day with a communion at Calvary!!!

  • Razzouk Tattoo

    6. Mai 2023 in Palästina

What an honor.....Anton is the 27th generation of his family to tattoo! The family has been here tattooing in Jerusalem since 1300!!!

    Their Family History

Tattooing is an art that the Razzouk family brought with them to Palestine five centuries ago, bringing it with them from Egypt. The family came to the Holy Land for pilgrimage but then stayed for trade and for the Tattooing tradition that had existed, and since this art has been in the family for 700 hundred years starting in Egypt, the family started tattooing pilgrims for a living.

Their ancestors used tattoos to mark Christian Copts in Egypt with a small cross on the inside of the wrist to grant them access to churches.
Those without it would have difficulty entering the church; therefore, and from a very young age (sometimes even a few months old), Christians would tattoo their children with the cross identifying them as Copts.

Jerusalem Cross Tattoo: The symbol of the Jerusalem Cross has a long history in the world of Christendom as well as the world of tattooing.

Sometimes described as a cross potent between four crosslets or a cross of equal arms, each terminating in a cross bar, there is no mistaking this distinctive and squarish cross symbol out of the dozens of types that have been used in tattoos. Its earliest appearance as a symbol seems to have occurred, not surprisingly, during the first Crusade (1096), in the coat of arms of Godfrey of Bouillon, the first Latin ruler of Jerusalem. Dead by the age of only forty, the tall, handsome, and fair-haired descendant of Charlemagne found his way quickly into legend, idolized as the “perfect Christian knight.” In the nearly one thousand years since then, the Jerusalem cross has been associated with Christian crusades, heroism, and knights, but especially with Jerusalem, especially when it comes to tattoos.

“In the old City of Jerusalem one afternoon in 1956, I discovered a collection of woodblocks which struck me as unique in character.” So begins John Carswell’s compellingly simple account of his discovery of the remnants of a centuries old tradition of tattooing in the Holy Land that goes back in written records to at least the 1600s and quite possibly much earlier. In the tattoo/coffin-making shop of tattooer/coffin-maker Jacob Razzouk, Carswell recorded the designs of 168 wood blocks that were carved with various, mostly Coptic Christian, tattoo designs. Prominent among them is, of course, the Jerusalem cross. Pilgrims to the Holy City have likely used it for centuries in order to commemorate their journeys – even pilgrims such as King Edward VII of England and King Frederik IX of Denmark.”
