  • Caesarea

    April 26, 2023 in Israel ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

    Visiting Caesarea, city of Cornelius
the Centurion, the first Gentile to convert (Acts 10). We visited the Roman theatre, walked on the pier used by the apostle Paul on his way to Rome, and saw the impressive water aqueduct built by Herod the Great. We were also able to see what is believed to be the prison that Paul was held in!

    Ancient Caesarea

The modern town is named after the ancient city of Caesarea Maritima, built by Herod the Great about 25–13 BCE as a major port. It served as an administrative center of the province of Judaea (later named Syria Palaestina) in the Roman Empire, and later as the capital of the Byzantine province of Palaestina Prima. During the Muslim conquest in the 7th century, it was the last city of the Holy Land to fall to the Arabs. The city degraded to a small village after the provincial capital was moved from here to Ramla and had an Arab majority until Crusader conquest. Under the Crusaders it became once again a major port and a fortified city. It was diminished after the Mamluk conquest. [4] In 1884, Bosniak immigrants settled there.[4] In 1940, kibbutz Sdot Yam was established next to the village. In February 1948, the village was conquered by a Palmach unit commanded by Yitzhak Rabin, its people already having fled following an earlier attack by the Lehi paramilitary group.

  • Mt. Precipice and Mt. Carmel

    April 26, 2023 in Israel

We left rhe Mediterranean, and traveled north to Mt. Carmel, where Elijah held the contest with’450 prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18).

We stopped for a typical Falafel Meal at the Druze village of Daliaf El-Carnler.

Then, we spent the afternoon traveling through the Valley of Jezreel.

At Megiddo, we viewed the excavations of 21 superimposed cities, the remains from
    Solomon’s days ( 1 Kings 9).

To end the day, we drove through Nazareth, where
Jesus spent most of His life. We made a stop at Mt. of Precipice (Luke 4) for a breathtaking view of Nazareth and the Valley of Armageddon. Can't explain how amazing these visits have been!

The Bible is unfolding before my eyes!

On our way to our hotel we drove by Cana of Galilee where Jesus performed His first miracle at the wedding feast (John 2) and made our wat to our hotel in Galilee where we will be for the next 3 days.

  • Today's Tour Part One

    April 27, 2023 in Israel ⋅ 🌙 21 °C

AREA OF THE TRIBE OF DAN
Today was dedicated to the spectacular northern part of Israel.

Following the accounts described in the Gospel of Luke chapter 9, we drove through the Hula Valley to reach Mt Hermon, where the miracle of Transfiguration occurred.

We visited the Banias, one of the headwaters of the Jordan River and site of Caesarea Philippi, where Peter confessed Christ's divinity.

We stopped to see the border (known as the cease fire line) between Israel and Syria.

From there, we continued to the Pan Nature Reserve. After walking through the beautiful reserve and a taste from the cool water, we visited Jeroboam's AItar (I Kings 12). We also saw a city gate from the time of Abraham the Patriarch and learned about the importance of the gate in the social life of the city in the Old Testament times.

Our final stop was at Capernaum, where Jesus taught in the synagogue and spent much of His ministry (Matthew 4).

    AROUND THE SEA OF GALILEE
Today, we will be visiting the places where Jesus spent most of his public life and the sites you have read about all of your life. Using a replica of the wooden fishing boat from 'The disciples' time, we will sail on the Sea of Galilee and recall Jesus' experiences with the fishermen.

Then we will continue to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Christ preached the
Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). We will also visit the recently discovered Magdala Synagogue. Here, we will view remains of the synagogue and town of Mary Magdalen and recall Jesus’ teachings throughout the Galilee (Mathew 4).

Driving around the lake, we will visit Tabgha place of the Primacy of Peter. We will also stop by the Jordan River for a
Baptism service in the same water Jesus was baptized in.

  • BOAT RIDE SEA OF GALILEE

    April 28, 2023 in Israel ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

We had such a blessed time to recall Jesus' and his experiences with the fishermen.

Using a replica of the wooden fishing boat from 'The disciples' time, we set sail on the Sea of Galilee. Time and scripture reading as we recall Jesus' experiences with the fishermen.

Jesus walking on the water, or on the sea, is depicted as one of the miracles of Jesus recounted in the New Testament.

There are accounts of this event in three Gospels—Matthew, Mark, and John—but it is not included in the Gospel of Luke. This story, following the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand, tells how Jesus sent the disciples by ship back to the "other side" of the Sea of Galilee (the western side) while he remained behind, alone, to pray.

Night fell, and the sea arose as the ship became caught in a wind storm. After rowing against the wind for most of the night, the disciples saw Jesus walking on the water. They were frightened, thinking that they were seeing a spirit, but when Jesus told them not to be afraid, they were reassured. After Jesus entered the ship, the wind ceased, and they arrived at land.
