Finally got both girls up at a decent hour. It's a big day for us...we're going out on the water!! Had the good sense to take the Sorrento road into Positano ...the road's a bit wider, mostly but just as zig zaggy.
In the excitement we got down to Positano had a quick lunch before starting our outing.
It was great being on the water and surprisingly cooler. Kavni and Yashvi love swimming but this is the first time in a large body of water so I insisted they go in with noodles. I, meanwhile went with 2 noodles since I can't swim! I love the feeling of bobbing with the waves, watching the undulating waves come towards you, some higher than you, and cresting...a mini gentle personal Rollercoaster ride. Just watch out not to get close to the Cliffside ... could be painfull!Read more

Emerald groto was busy so we went to another one and had it to ourselves, so much better. As other boaters started arriving we moved on to the next spot.

Traveling the waters off Amalfi coast...

Last swim of the day. There was even an ice cream boat to tempt us. But the girls were too busy enjoying the water, even they didn't want to stop for ice cream.
We had decided to have dinner before the climb out of Positano. Problem was it was only 6pm and dinner service didn't start til 7. It was so comfortable on the boat...even when anchored but back on shore it was sweltering. So we decided on a restaurant with AC and settled ourselves for gelato then mocktails and olive while we waiting for 7 to roll around. Then had dinner ☺️.
I keep telling myself the climb wasn't that bad but I was tired by the time I got to the car. The girls were in some shop looking at postcards so I decided to get the car and bring it down, since the road is a one way.
Thank goodness it was dusk by then...making the climb in the heat of the day may have finished me..its not that I'm out of shape just that swimming takes a lot out of you!Read more

TravelerThere is no beach. We dropped anchor in calmer seas. This part of the shoreline is only accessible by boat

Salerno

We have been passing Salerno by on the highway for days, use it directionally to make sure am going in the right way, started our initial long scary drive to Positano the first time, even had dinner here a few days ago. But we had never stopped to explore the city.
Today we took some time to explore and wander the streets, had some drinks, satisfied Yashi's desire to taste test McD's.
It is a beautiful city. So much to explore, but are saving it for the next trip!
We are still feeling 'dough' negative so had Mexican for dinner. It was really good, spicy and flavorful with vegis. So satisfying!
We were hoping to get a late swim in but ..maybe in the morning!Read more

I had miscalculated and missed a booking for tonight. So in a panick found this place. It is so beautifully located I thought 'ok, this is different from the other places we are staying at, lets try it'.
Didn't notice/realize it didn't have ac or wifi! The look on the girls faces when they heard!
We went down the mountain to get some groceries to make dinner and the car had such a hard time coming back up...the engine was sputtering! I imaged the engine stalling and the car rolling backwards down the mountain...what happens to the brakes in a hybrid car I wonder?

They greeted us as we arrived. Planning on spending the next few days together exploring Cinque Terre, Florence and surrounding interests.

Cinque Terre

Today was all about the sights and swimming. We went to the Cinque Terre region. Got on a train in Spenzia (will confirm names of towns...I have already forgotten). Actually it was because I was just following my leaders, admiring the surroundings not paying attention.
Beautiful towns connected by the train.
Everyone went swimming...I took pics. There wasn't a pool noodle in sight and I didn't want to take a chance drowing and ruining the fun.
Then we went to the forth village and this place had a 'beach' that I could keep to and enjoy the water. But there were some pretty strong waves...I managed to stay relatively in place and get my fill. Changing out of our wet clothes was an adventure. We found a dark corner held up towels and managed to get the job done.Read more

After the train back to La Spezia it was still a bit early so decided to got to Porto Venere...a northern coastal town, but not as busy as Cinque Terre.
Anthony had go run rings around the town to find parking. Just as Adrianne and I were about to call it quits Anthony strolls into view. And it's a good thing! As we wandered the streets there a lady giving out sample...and we'll we realized we hadn't been to Costco in a while😁! Best damn pesto I have ever tasted. Of course I bought a jar to bring home, hoping it doesn't leak. And a smaller jar to eat while here.Read more

We left for Florence at 8, about an hour away. Hoping to beat the rush and heat. Unfortunately it was HOT all day and by the time we're leaving it was 41°c...plus humidity!
It's been humid the whole time here...even my poor hair straightener has given up. As I straighten one section the just completed section riverts back to curls and kinks! Waste of time!
Back to Florence...we went shopping!! I didn't go overboard like I thought I would...well not too much!
It was fun wandering the market. Had a late lunch took some pics to prove we were there and then trekked back to the car stopping along the way at anything that caught our interest.
Soo happy to see our ac-enabled car.
Refreshed back in Lucca and then met up again with A&A for a stroll and dinner.Read more

We left Lucca this morning. Adrianne and Anthony were on their way early morning , but we had until 11 to checkout so took our time. At 9:30 Yashi decided she couldn't survive a minute longer without Rice Krispy cereal! So off she went to buy milk and cereal. Both thorughly enjoyed their breakfast.
Then we were off. Past Florence and Sienna, south through the mountains to Saturnia.
We settled in and went for a walk in the town square. It is lovely and so close to our b&b, everything we need right there.
We had passed a pizzeria on the way into town and decided to go there for dinner. The place was packed with everyone parking on the streets, making the street barely support two way traffic
