  • Madfish Bay Denmark

    1月14日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

We drive to this last spot on this road - I'm happy to check it out as I'm a fan of Madfish Procesco- a wine that has taken it's brand name from this place. This spot is gorgeous. I'm so sad it's not warm enough for me to swim today - my loss, as there are people here having a beaut time in the water.
Now we're ready to head back to Albany to our Farmstays camp.

  • Wellstead

    1月15日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Stop here to do our caravan housekeeping - dump point and refill water. This is a terrific location for RV's to utilise these facilities. As there are very clean public toilets, a lovely shaded BBQ area, children's playground and coffee and cake to purchase nearby.
We purchase a cappuccino and hot chocolate and 2 yo yo biscuits, before getting on the move again.

  • Lake King Caravan Park

    1月15日〜17日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Park and go to the Lake King Tavern where we have to book in for the caravan park. We have a drink while we're here. We're told that we can select our own site, cost $28 per night with power and water.
We go back to the caravan park and suss out the amenities - yay, the camp kitchen here has an oven! We pick Site 10 to set up on. We get to work and have ourselves settled nice and quick - mat and awning out and ute unhitched. Time for a relax under our awning enjoying the nice breeze. I'm keen to make use of the oven, so I use my Thermomix and make a batch of yo yo biscuits to cook. Get these done and iced as well. Roger makes pizzas for our tea (bought bases) and again we use the camp kitchen oven to cook. Tidy up and get dishes done. I get a phone call from Lisa Sanders - lovely chat, her and Tony are looking into volunteering at Man From Snowy River festival 2025 too. Now usual relax, me tinkering with this and budget books, then bedtime.
16/01/25 Thursday. We get up at 6am, I head straight over to the laundry here to get 1 load of washing going. Then I have a shower - nice clean amenities, great shower. Get back to find Roger has porridge ready (Thermomix) for us - while it's cooking, we hang out the washing. After breakfast, we get organised to go out for the day - Roger packs vegemite and cheese sandwiches, fruit and yoyo biscuits. We leave before 8am and go and fuel up at BP Lake King.
We return 2.30pm - to immediately turn on our air-conditioning in the van. Roger puts out the awning again - that he put away this morning before we left - due to windy conditions predicted. I get our washing off the line and packed away. We relax for the afternoon - fitting in our showers before tea. Roger cooks up steak and onion in a pan, stovetop in the caravan. We have this with salad and boiled potatoes. Roger has yoghurt and fruit to follow. Now reading etc before bed.
17/01/25 Friday. Roger gets up after 6am, I'm slower, and get up at 6.30am. We have our breakfast and get ourselves organised to leave. It's going to be a 'hot one' today - with nasty hot winds. Roger's decided we'll head for another caravan park to have power for air-conditioning. Good plan. On leaving Lake King we fuel up.

  • Wave Rock Visitor Centre

    1月16日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Walk to here from Hippo Yawn carpark. We enjoy a look inside this place which includes a cafe and giftware. Has a couple of attractions as well - The Lace Place, and Australian Animal Shelter. These both had entry fees $6 and $15 respectively, so we didn't worry about doing them. Though Roger did go through The Lace Place videoing as he didn't see the sign about the entry fee! We purchase a cappuccino and a hot chocolate here. Sorry to say my hot chocolate wasn't very good (cold and watery).もっと詳しく

  • Hyden

    1月16日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

Now drive into the nearby town of Hyden. Park and go for a stroll about. Check out some sculptures and shops. Go to the Bakery and get a curry pie and a sausage roll - pre lunch snack!
Stroll over to Hyden's public pool - it's open so we decide great day for a swim. This was a wonderful place to be. We had our packed lunch here in the shade at picnic tables - and had a couple of lovely 'swims' for our time relaxing here. Now ready to head back to our caravan.
On our return journey we stop and take photos of the truck sat on a hill in a paddock (10km out of Lake King). Great fun - tourist attraction!

  • Green Haven Tourist Park Ravensthorpe

    1月17日〜19日, オーストラリア ⋅ 🌬 33 °C

Come straight here from Lake King. This is our chosen spot to 'bunker down' for the hot day happening today. Even as we select our own site here - guessing No 23 (haven't really worked out its numbering) - can tell even at this time of day it's going to be horrible weather. On setting up we don't worry about the mat or putting out the awning (too windy). I have a quick look around our area in this park - amenities fine, before going into the caravan and having a cuppa with Roger.
Next we decide to drive back into Ravensthorpe and have a look around. I want to get to the Post Office as I have parcels to send off.
We return 11.30am, happy to 'hibernate' in our van with the air-conditioning. Lunch today - toasted sandwiches in the microwave toaster with yoyo biscuits and fruit.
Read and relax - afternoon smoko cuppa and fancy block of chocolate - shared! Continue to read and relax. Once cools down in the afternoon - Roger goes and watches news on the TV in rhe camp kitchen. I get a lovely phonecall from Stacy - catch up chat and work out what do do about Frankie and Annabelle's returned Christmas gift. I get updated address from Jane. Roger uses the BBQ in camp kitchen to cook duck sausages and our airfryer for potato chips, I cut up some salad to have with these. Walkers Mince pies for dessert, then more relaxing before bedtime - with Roger having his shower and we'll tidy up and do dishes.
18/01/25 Saturday We both get up at 6.30am. We decide to wash our sheets and towels this morning - so get the bed stripped and remade with spare clean sheets. Get the load of washing going, then get my Thermomix making my porridge while I go take a shower. Come back, have breakfast, tidy up, do dishes. Roger has prepared our packed lunch - sandwiches, apples and yoyo biscuits - so once we organised off we go to have a day out checking Hopetoun and surrounds. Leave around 8.30am.
Get back to our caravan around 5pm. Roger prepares our tea, while I get our dry washing off the line, folded and put away. For tea tonight Roger has sliced up the leftover duck sausages and cooks them with a stack of chopped up vegetables - stir-fry method, with some seasonings. Very nice. We follow with dessert of a Walker's mince pie each with custard (Thermomix). Roger goes has his shower, I do the dishes, now relaxing before bedtime. Roger reading, I'm writing this.
19/01/25 Sunday We get up around 6.30am, I decide to go for a run - just do blocks around the town. Get back to find Roger has the caravan hitched to the ute, getting well in hand to leave this morning. He also has my porridge cooking in the Thermomix, so I tidy up and get organised to go for my shower once breakfast is done. That's what happens, then we finish up our pack up routine and away we go - around 9am.

  • Ravensthorpe

    1月17日, オーストラリア ⋅ 🌬 37 °C

Roger drops me off at the Post Office so I can organise to post my birthday gifts to Raelene and Jenny. While in here I get a call from Tegan (returning mine as I missed her earlier - tried while having my cuppa) - all good her way, enjoying chatting about camping plans when family visits her and Lev in June. By the time I leave PO Roger has checked out shops around here so takes us to the Visitor Centre. Good spot to look in - I get a hatpin and a cheap 2025 calendar. Next continue driving about the town. Some great buildings - Hotel and Lolly Shop etc but too warm to be bothered getting photos. Do stop and check out the silo art though. Back to rest in our caravan.もっと詳しく

  • Hopetoun

    1月18日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Arrive - and I immediately take to this coastal town - do wish we'd thought to come and stay a night here (apparently it's the same price, $40 per night powered, as where we are now). Oh well, will just enjoy this today. We walk about the town main area, then have morning tea that the local CWA offers each Saturday 9am to 11.30am. Meet friends Colin and Steve and Steve's partner and family with their dogs, we sit together enjoying a chat and our Devonshire scones. Next, Roger and I head off for a drive to check out local attractions.もっと詳しく

  • Hamersley Inlet Fitzgerald River NP

    1月18日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Our lunch spot for today. We go for a small walk about before having our packed lunch at one of the picnic tables provided here.
After finishing off here, drive back to Hopetoun - Roger thinking he may have a swim - not warm enough for me. On the drive back, he turns into the carpark of East Mount Barren - I'm happy thinking we'll stop and look into doing the walk here.....Not so, just a drive through!もっと詳しく

  • Captain Douglas Lookout Hopetoun

    1月18日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

We have come back into Hopetoun, and Roger agrees it's not warm enough for his swim, so we drive to this lookout to check it out. Once parked, it's only a short walk to the viewing platform. Unfortunately this is one of those lookouts that the surrounding trees/scrubs block out a fair amount of the view. Here the platform needs to be built higher.もっと詳しく

  • East Mount Barren Fitzgerald River NP

    1月18日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

After returning to Hopetoun - where I could get good enough mobile reception to check about the walk here - I was able to persuade Roger to bring us back here to do the walk. My AusTrail App rates this as a moderate walk 2.6km, so I know it's doable for Rog and I.
Well, as it turns out, it's a good challenge with loose gravel rocks, rock scrambling and steep grade. Takes us over an hour and a half to do it - so worth it for the views. Perfect day for it, not too hot or windy.
After we finish this - we're both happy to drive back to Ravensthorpe to our caravan at camp.

  • Stokes Inlet Campground

    1月19日〜20日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Arrive - camp hosts out - so select Site 10 and settle in. Have a look around - nice spot with good clean facilities. Have our lunch, Roger makes himself a couple of salami and salad sandwiches and I make 2 salami, relish, avocado, tomato and cheese open toasties - using our caravan griller. Camp hosts Neil and Pam have arrived back - no worries with what we've done (our site etc), just have to catch up with them later to make our payment to confirm our stay. Relax around camp, nice breeze coming off the Inlet water. Go and make our camp site payment $30 ($15 per adult per night), then decide to do the walk that's offered from here to the lookout. Come back and relax again. Our camp hosts have invited us to byo drinks and meet up in the camp kitchen with themselves and other campers at 5.30pm. We do this, (4 couples with us included - 2 our vintage + and 1 young) and have a very enjoyable hour chatting with other travellers - swapping travel tips and comparing stories etc. The young couple, Luke and Montana, from Murray Bridge SA. All go back to our camp sites to organise and have tea. Tonight we have pork steaks and boiled vegetables, I have some plain yoghurt for dessert, Rog doesn't feel like dessert tonight. Roger has his shower in the van, and I do the dishes. Relaxing before bedtime.
20/01/25 Monday We get up around 6.30am, I head off to walk the Stokes Inlet Trail again for a morning walk. I get back and have my breakfast, which Roger has the porridge ready for me. We get organised and packed up - leave here just before 9am.
