    We set off from Shinagawa station on our first Shinkansen (The Hikari) to Kyoto. Travelling at speeds of 175mph we reach Kyoto station in around 2:45mins, then at Kyoto station we switched to the JR Nara Line to Nara station. This took about 50mins nd we met Ben at the station. We had lunch at a ramen restaurant, I had Pork ramen with sticky rice, Ben had the same and Kate had a chicken broth ramen. We visited all the sights that we set out to see, the main two for us were obsvly the deer roaming in the park and the giant Todaiji. After leaving Nara me and Kate made our way back to Kyoto and booked into our hotel for the night.Read more

    Ueno & Asukasa

    We started the day visiting Ueno Park, walking to various different shrines and getting our books stamped. We then took a Ginza line metro to Asakusa and walked to the Tokyo Sky tree which is an observation point and big mall. The main attraction for this was to visit the Pokemon Centre, which Kate thoroughly loved!Read more

    Up abit later than yesterday (nearly 11miles we needed the lay in) we set off for Akihabara. Arriving from the station we were greeted with a huge Sega sign lit up on a building. The weather was boiling hot! Not a wise choice to wear skinnys.. We walked into countless arcades, figurine and manga stores and indulged into everything Otaku (Kate even bought stuff for herself) My hightlight was visiting super potato, a retro video game store that's a Mecca to gamers. Staying in Akihabara till evening we decided to grab some food at a japanese restaurant. I had stir fried soba noodles and Kate had grilled salmon sushi and meat gyoza.Read more

    Our first destination was the Metropolitan Building for the free view of Tokyo.. were weren't dissapointed at all, it was an immense sight and words can't describe how big Tokyo is. We explored Shinjuku for quiet a few hours, great lively prefecture

    Yoyogi Park, Meji Jingu and Harajuku

    Walking from Shibuya we went though Yoyogi Park. The park was beautiful, nice and relaxed and the perfect setting for the Meiji Jingu. The Tori Gates were huge on the lead up to the temple. Following the precise order of things we washed our hands /rinsed our mouths and walked on into the shrine. It was stunning.Read more

    Leaving the hotel early we walked to the closer station called Gotanda, about 5mins walk from the hotel. Topped up the passmo cards with money we got the JR train to Shibuya on the Yamanote Line.     HOTEL Mystays Shinagawa, Japan

    Hours early for check in and boiling hot after walking up hills to the the hotel we finally find it. Unable to check til 3pm we hit Dennys Diner. Kate uses it as a perfect chance to show of her Japanses and orders us coffee / cold and some breakfast. After Dennys we found a quiet little spot to relax.     Shinagawa Station Minato, Japan

    Really quick train journey to Shinagawa Station, Train was simple to use and passmo cards are really efficient even working on the vending machines. Weather in Tokyo is really humid even this early. 8:36am we got to Shingawa station, hotel check in isn't till 3pm...better find a place to kill some timeRead more

    Flight experience and arrive in Tokyo

    11:20mins and were here! Flight wasn't bad at all. Had two meals, I had Japanese curry and Kate had some pasta with cheese and pesto, an hour before landing we both had an English breakfast. Watched a few films during the flight.. back to the future, Jason Bourne, Assassins Creed, Jack Ryan : Never go back and floated in and out sleep watching Moana. Finally were here!Read more
