    Singapur

    18 maart 2023, Singapore ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

After 12 hours of flight we made a short stop in Singapur. It was 7 a.m. local time and 1 a.m. at home, so we had a jet lag, but it didn't stop us from exploring the City center. We just said to the taxi driver to drop us somewhere in the center, where he thinks is the best place to start some sightseeing and after 20 minutes of ride we stopped at one of the Monuments of Singapore: Merlion, which is a fountain with a lion head and a fish body directly opposite of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. From there we made a small trip around the bay to see the stuff like the financial center, the Museum of Design, the Museum of ArtScience, the Marina Bay Sands Expo- and Shopping Center, the Helixbridge or the outdoor Theater. The most exciting thing for William was definitely the model of the Fullerton hotel, made from about a half Million pieces of Lego and weighing 500 kg, standing directly infront of the real hotel.
At 1 p.m. local time we needed to go back to the airport to catch our flight to Hanoi. The Airport part called Jewel is also worth visiting, with its big waterfall coming from the middle of the glass roof and the tropical forest around it.
If we should decribe Singapore after the few hours there with 3 words it would be: amazing, clean and expensive.
We are coming again at the end of our trip to see more of it.

  • Arriving to Hanoi, Vietnam

    18 maart 2023, Vietnam ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

After 3 hours of flight from Singapore, we arrived to Hanoi. Fortunately the way to the hotel and check-in was uncomplicated. We were so tired and ready for the bed after having a dinner on the plane, but as the receptionist told us, there was a big night market just 500 m away from the hotel, it was clear: we couldn't miss it. So check out our first impressions of the streets of Hanoi and the local street food :) we've already learnt in Thailand: always eat there, where the locals eat and it was right again.Meer informatie

We overslept the breakfast after the two days of travelling and started from the hotel at 1 p.m. to Explore the city. We had a ,,breakfast" at a cozy Café called Xofa, which was in european Style (they also had Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte - but with oranges 😀). Besides exploring Hanoi, we had many tasks for the day: to change some money, buy a raincoat, buy a simcard, visit a local puppet theater, see some famous Tempels and also book some trips for the next days. It was a long day again, but in the end we made it all, mainly thanks to David, a nice guy, who has his ,,travel agency" right next to our hotel and sells like everything, what the tourists may need 😀Meer informatie

    20 maart 2023, Vietnam ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

On the 3rd day we made a trip to Ninh Binh to see the ,,Halong Bay without water" how it is called and some other sights, which you can see in the posts above. It was our first not self-organised trip: 29 people, mostly from Asia - Japan, Singapore, China, one family from Canada and except of us just two tourists from Polen representing the Europe. It was a touristic trip how you can imagine it, but some facts are worth noting: the guide was a very special guy, who liked to make jokes about the Indians - it would be funny, if there wouldn't be a noticable group of them in the bus 🙊 he also repeated every of his english speaches in vietnamese, but we didn't know why, because there were exactly zero tourists from Vietnam in the bus 😅 however he was right with one thing: the Indians would always come too late 😃 the Singapore guy sitting next to Robert heard his chinese folklore music the whole 2 hours of the way to Ninh Binh - without earpods - so it was another cultural input for everyone.
If you take a bus in Vietnam, it's important to know, that the seats are smaller than in Europe, so even I, with my 164 cm and short legs, had a problem to find a place for my knees. However William was a star of this trip, like the youngest passanger, he got lot of attention and he found a new friend: Daffy, an 11 years old canadian. His family has been travelling the world since 7 months and even if Daffy seemed a little shy at the beginning, it was a pleasure to see how the two of them understood euch other, even if they didn't speak the same language. They spend the whole day together, William packed all the english words he could and Daffy was really amazing to him - almost like a big brother. They also wanted to sit together in the bus, so the Singapore guy next to Robert made a place for me and he even gave the two guys some chewing gums. Even I was a little sad, as we had to say good bye to them
