Day full of surprises for me, we visited nice small town and then salt mine. We had a lot of yummi food and ice creams. We also visited many handcraft markets and finished the day at the concert.

Aguas Calientes

Our hiked ended here, very touristic place, everything was really expensive but located in beautiful area. The place where everyone else is going to Machu Picchu, but we decided to visit the place, as it's overcrowded place.Read more

Salcantay trail

Beautiful hike from Soray to Agua Caliente, the place of the Machu Picchu. Four days hiking thought various types of nature, high mountains with snow, forest, rainforest with avocados.

Lima

First visit of Lima, where we got invited to stay with Dante and his family. We met him while hitchhiking in mountains. We stayed first two days wiht them and then we came back again.

Santa Cruz hike

Amazing hike starting in Cashapampa heading to Vaquería, crossing beautiful mountain, following river. Most people do this hike with a tour and guide, but it's very easy to do it on your own. We enjoyed the hike eventhough it was raining a bit and sometimes we could see just a fog, but that made the bright moments with sun even brighter.Read more

Laguna Parón

After changing our plans little bit we decided to visit Laguna Paron first. On the way we met nice people, who gave us a lift all the way to Laguna. There we hiked up for a beautiful view and also took a little swim in the lake, the water was freezing cold as it was coming from the melting glacier.Read more

Hitchhiking through the mountains

During hitchhiking from Trujillo to Caraz we had nice experience with police, helping us finding a car. The road went through mountains and sometimes it was really tiny without not much traffic but in the end we managed to get all the way to Caraz in one day.Read more

We were really lucky, while hitchhiking to Trujillo, as the first car took us directly there for 6 hour ride.
In Trujillo we had also very nice couchsurfing experince with Cesar and we explore the city and also spend some time on the beach.Read more

Cajamarca

Cajamarca was one of our most favorite cities so far. It was very peaceful and we were one of the few turists there. We also had a great couchsurfing with John, we could meet many of his friends and he also showed us many nice places.
Second day we decided to make a trip to the waterfall Yumagual, where is also a hot spring. Unfortunate it was quite busy as at was 1st May and everyone had holiday but we still found a nice spot and we could enjoy the hot water.Read more

Loooong hitchhiking

Eventhough we started to hitchhike quite late we were really lucky and we found a guy going just 2 hours from our destination. We drove until 3am and we decided to camp just few kilometers in front of the city. After 3 hours of sleep we woke up with beautiful view on the mountains around. Two cars and 2,5h more of the way and we were in our final destination Cajamarca.Read more

Chachapoyas

Chachapoyas is very nice small town, with beautiful architecture. We had great lunch in vegetarian restaurant, best hot chocolate and Simon also did some street music. And then we hit the road again direction to Cajamarca.Read more

Catarata del Gocta

We heard that on the way to Chachapoyas is 3rd highest waterfall in the world. We were bit hesitating if to visit this place, as we saw already soo many waterfalls, but it was definitely worth it. In total we made a loop of 16km, hiking with our backpack was bit exhausting, but thanks to that, we could camp close to the waterfall and have the area just for ourself.Read more

While hitchhiking from Tarapoto to Chachapoyas we met Letty, really nice woman, who invited us to her house for the night. She was really warm-hearted and it was great get to know her and her friends.

In Tarapoto we had really nice time staying with couchsurfer Richard, 80 years old guy, who had so many crazy stories to tell. For his age, he was still really full of energy and it was really fun with him. We spend most of time with him listening him, going to the market and cooking some yummi dishes together.Read more

Saying goodbye to Levin

After more then one month traveling together came the time to say goodbye. Levin took a flight to Lima and later to New York and we took a ferry back to Yurimaguas. Ok it was not that easy as it sounds. We went 3 times to the harbor, one times missed the ferry, second time started to drive with the boat but the motor got broken and 3 time finally going to Yurimaguas. This time we took a smaller boat and spend less the 3 days there.Read more

Amazon rainforest

We took a tour with Selvaventura and spend 3 days in the jungle. We stayed there with nice family and the mother was preparing amazing food. Our guide Ashuco had amazing knowledge about birds and healing plants. We spend a lot of time on the boat discovering hidden parts of jungle.
Last day we went to the monkey rescue centre, where were many monkeys saved from black market.Read more

Iquitos

In Iquitos we stayed with couchsurfer Denis and his family. He took us on the toktok tour around the city and we also explore the part Belén on the boat. In the evening we went swimming to the river and watched the sunset.Read more

Yurimaguas

In Yurimaguas we went straight to the harbor and cought a boat going to Iquitos. We had great time on the boat, sharing time with other travelers, playing card, doing acroyoga and chilling. In total we spend almost 4 days on the boat.Read more

Hitchhiking to Perú

The roads were getting smaller and smaller and there were also less cars, the closer we were to boarder with Peru.
Sometimes we had to wait more the hour for some car, but we were always lucky to find someone to take us.
Last 3 hours from the boarder we went with a pick up and also passing the boarder went nice and easy.Read more

Vilcabamba

Vilcabamba is a tiny town hidden in the mountains, where the peole apparently live the longest, from the whole latin America. Peole said it's because of a special water and peacefulness of the place.
There are also a lot of people from United States, who moved there for their retirement.
We hiked to the mountain from where we had nice view, had some juice and later we continued our way to Perú.Read more

Loja

In Loja we stayed through couchsurfing with really nice couple - Naty and Darvy.
We explored to centre which is really pretty and clean. We tryed some local food and Simon did some street music.
In the evening we went to pub to try some craft beers, they tasted so yummi after 40 days of not drinking any alcohol.Read more

National Park Cajas

Next day in Cuenca, we went to national park Cajas, with another couchsurfer, who we met through Rafael. We went with him and his friends by car, which made it much easier.
The nature was very beautiful there and pretty easy to hike. Las Cajas has soo many beautiful lakes and mountains, so you could spend many days of hiking there.Read more
