In Cuenca we with couchsurfer, who could host 12 peole at the same time. It was almost like a hostel, with many other couchsurfers. We cooked a lot of dishes and played some board games.

Baños de Agua Santa

Before going to Baños Levin got ill again and he decided to stay more nights in Riobamba.
So just two of us, we hitchhiked to Baños. It one of the most turistic places in Ecuador but the place has a lot to offer. First night we were camping by nice river and in the morning we went to explore the waterfalls. I also went for the zip line, which was great experience.
Next day we borrowed a bicycles and we went for a 65km tour from Baños to Puyo. The way was following many waterfalls, the most beautiful for us was Pailon del diablo.Read more

Chimborazo

Next morning we took a bus going to entrance to the national park. From there Simon and I hitchhike up to the 4800 m and Levin decided to walk.
In the first refugio we met nice travels, a girl from Czech republic and a guy from France.
Later we hiked up very slowly to the second refugio, as it was quite exhausting, because of the hight altitude.
On the way back we visited really nice kanyon and camped there for a night.Read more

Riobamba

In Riobamba we stayed in very cheap hostel, which we had troubles to find. We got there partly by hitchhiking, partly by bus.
In the morning we were planning to go hiking to Chimborazo, however Simon felt bit sick, so we decided to stay one more day in Riobamba. Levin and I, we went to explore the city, and Simon stayed in the bed.Read more

Guayaquil

Before going to Guayaquil we've heard from many people that it's on of the most dangerous towns in Ecuador. Luckily we felt all the time safe, also thanks to our couchsurfer Roberto, who was our guide in the town.Read more

Montañita

Next place Montañita, was really party town, and we didn't like it so much there. The beach was very busy and it was also quite pricey there.
One night we slept in the hostel and the next day on the beach. We also went for surfing and enjoy the small waves compare to waves in Palomino.Read more

Salango Island

Firstly we wanted to take a tour to Isla de la Plata but the guide convinced us to take a smaller tour to Salango Island.
On the tour there were 20 people in total and it was very turistic.
We could see some sea lions, blue footed booby and some other birds. But it was definitely not our style of traveling.Read more

Puerto López

On the way to Puerto Lopez we also visited nice beach in San Lorenzo. The next beach we visited was quite famous Playa los Frailes, which was unfortunately quite full because it was Saturday. In the evening we head or Puerto Lopez where we slept on the beach. The night was not so calm bacause a lot of people where having parties around but we managed to got some sleep.Read more

Manta

To Manta we arrived next day, as we didn't find any couchsurfing we decided to book the cheapest hostel. We also met Raphael, guy from Switzerland whom we met 6 month ago in Mexico. We also met his couchsurfer and we played some volleyball together. We didn't like Manta so much as it was really big city without any nice city centre, so we decided to head to Puerto Lopez next day.Read more

On the way to the sea

When we arrived to the Laguna and met with Levin, it was raining heavily. In the end we decided to take a bus, without knowing exactly where are we going and where we're gonna sleeping. Simon sat next to woman which started to talk to him and after a while of conversation she offered us to put a tent in from of her house. We also got to know the rest of her family and spend a calm night there.Read more

Laguna Quilotoa

From Sigchos to Quilotoa it's around 35km. The view where stunning and we also passed few tiny villages. We were really lucky about the weather as it was raining just once in the night and then when we arrived to the village and sat inside to try some yummi soup. There we also met with Levin again.Read more

Latacunga

Latacunga was our spot mainly for leaving our stuff before going to Quilotoa loop hike. Unfortunate Levin got ill and decided to stay there in hostel for two more nights to get better. We stayed with couchsurfer who we almost never met.Read more

Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo is city which almost no turists go to. We were staying with couchsurfing with really nice family. In the centre there is really huge food market. Next day we went to the museum of the Tsáchilas, indigenes community from that area.Read more

Mindo & waterfall hike

First hitchhiking the three of us. We were lucky and we found a pick up bringing us all the way to Mindo. There we went for hike to the waterfalls and then camped close to the river.

Quito & arriving of Levin

Quito is the highest capital city in the world (2850m) and you can definitely feel it on the temperature. We hat really nice couchsurfing with Gino, directly after arriving he took us to his cousin place to eat some yummi pizza, then we explore the city and in the evening Levin arrived. So since now we travel 3 of us.
Next day we did some sightseeing in the historical centre and visit nice view points with some of his friends.Read more

Otavalo & Cotacachi

Our first couchsurfer in Ecuador - Hamilton made our stay really nice. Eventhough he was bit strick with some rule in his house we really enjoyed talking to him and playing with his dogs. He lived in a container tiny house, which was quite inspiring to see how simple can someone live without spending too much money for building a big house.
In Otavalo we explored local market and I bought myself sweatshirt eventhough I don't have anymore space in my backpack.
We found nice german bakery and ate very nice laugenwackle after being 6 months our of germany, it tasted really yummi.Read more

Las Lajas & crossing the boarder

Long time again, we heard from someone that there is really nice church on the boarder with Ecuador and now came the time to see the church. We were really lucky that the guy which we hitchhiked had time and offer us to drive us and visit the place with us. It was very impressive how someone can build the church in the mountain. Close from there were also nice waterfall and wild river flowing under the bridge.
Passing the boarder went nice ans easy and with few car we made our way to Cotacachi to our couchsurfer.Read more

Crazy long way to Pasto

Eventhough the distance between Popayán to Pasto is 240km it took us 11 hours to get there. As the may round was closed because of some work on the way, we had to take way around, which was very mudy and passing not really safe places, as there were people growing coca. Luckily we met David and with him we got all the way safely to Pasto. There we had really nice couchsurfing experince with Diego. After such a long way it was amazing feeling to be laying in the bed.Read more

Popayán

Popayán it's called the "Ciudad blanco - white city". The city if full of churches and beautiful historical houses. I took free tour while Simon was playing on the street. We also spend some time with our cousurfers and his friend.Read more

Cali & fincas around

Gladys and Nestor were another amazing people who we met during hitchhiking and get the opportunity to meet them again and spend time in their homes. Gladys showed us Cali and it's pretty areas. We also went to the countryside and visited Finca of her friend and brother.Read more

Barcelona with the family

We met Jonathan while hitchhiking to Salento. He invited us to his place to meet his family. We had great time, going with them to do missionary work with kids on the street, visiting their friends finca and exploring the places around.Read more

Hiking in Los Nevados

One of the nicest hikes we did so far. Going almost without plan showed as very good option because we could just go with a flow and visit places which we liked. Paramillo Quindío was very similar to Mountain of seven colors in Peru, with the difference that we were the only people on the mountain which would never happend to you in Peru.
We had few crisis on the way, befause of my tirenes and PMS syndrom :D but all the view were definitely worth the afford.Read more

Salento

In Salento we spend night before and after the hike. It's very cute town with a lot of turists but very cute shops and caffee places. First night we spend in the tent at the hill behind the town and then we continued for the hike. When we came from the hike we got fancy Airbnb and ate delicious lunch at very nice vegetarian restaurant.Read more
