Washington Dulles (IAD) - Lisbon (LIS) ✈️: TAP Portugal is good value for a hot meal dinner, modest breakfast sandwich, and blankets/pillow offered. Seats are firm where a stretching break is helpful (choose an aisle seat). 💺

Tips 💡: Bring snacks to tide you over as dinner served late around 830pm. Free messaging Wifi available, re-upped every hour. 📶 Do not get the paid wifi, starts at 15 euros for only one hour of service. 🙅🏽‍♀️

Lisbon Airport ✈️: Tourist info desk start at 7am, but expect it to actually open 15-30 min later. Lisboa card is discounted when you fly with TAP Portugal, and worth it for a day if you plan to visit multiple landmarks. 💳 Public transport is also unlimited which saves you the mental hassle of figuring out the metro otherwise. 🚇

Ride Share 🚘: There isn't clear signage on where ride share pick up locations are, so please plan ahead and study the airport map. 🗺️ Taxi service is expensive esp when passively accepting a luxury van😔🫰En savoir plus

Quiet Oasis 😌: Hotel perched on a hill overlooking Sesimbra town and Castello de Sesimbra (Sesimbra Castle) in the backdrop. 🏰 20 min walk to the beach, but prepare to climb the sloping hill back up. 🥾 A free shuttle can take you to the castle or Praia de Ouro (Ouro Beach).

Room 🛌: Deluxe Guest Room, Queen is spacious with an expansive desk to set up WFH setup plus comfy chairs. There'a a small outdoor patio and free minibar stocked with water, orange juice, sparkling, and soda 🥤

Tips 💡:What would be considered peak hours for breakfast is what the Portuguese consider early. Go before 10 am and you won't have to deal with the crowds. 🍳

Hidden gem 💎: Beautiful coastal tour with towering cliffside mountains, turquoise glistening waters, and secluded caves and beaches. ⛱️ An easy way to access the beaches vs on land where it's difficult descending down the steep cliff faces.

Tips💡: Wear a rash guard or wet suit as the water is ice cold ❄️🥶 even in July. Bring water, snacks, and a jacket for the seaside gusts 🌬️

Random memories 📝: Found a fishing net in the sand and picked up trash ♻️ There were two men standing stark naked on a beach. No photos were taken 🙈En savoir plus

Seaside Town ⛵: Slick cobblestone streets, narrow roads, and pristine white sand. Santiagio Fortress divides the bay into Ouro & California beaches. Souvenir shops, retail (grocery & clothing), cafes, and restaurants throughout explore.

Tips 💡: Bring cash for some shops and restaurants, or find an ATM in the area.

Ocean sports 🛶: You can rent a kayak for very cheap from AquaJump on California beach: 10-15€ for 30-60min. Book ahead for 90 min bay tour 25-30€.En savoir plus

Medieval Fortress 🏰: Last of the castles overlooking the sea with origins dating back to the 9th century and in its height a battlement through the Middle Ages. The most picturesque views of Sesimbra bay, and an eerily quiet Santa Maria church in the center of the grounds. ⛪

Tips 💡: Bring sunscreen, water, and a snack to fuel you through the hike. Be prepared for 10,000 steps up and back. 🥾 There is a bathroom and small cafe if needed.En savoir plus

Peixe Fresco (fresh fish) 🐟: Bustling seafood restaurant near the harbor where you pick out the fish you want and they grill it for you. The fish was succulent and juicy, and so pure in flavor that it did not need seasoning. 🤤 Also, it may be indicative of the country but the wine pours were overflowing for only 2€ a glass. 🍷

Tips 💡: Come between 12-1pm to get in before the crowds. They will offer bread, olives, pate, and salad that will cost if you accept it. Altogether the meal was still very affordable compared to the States. 👌

Highlights ⚡: Breezed past these sights in one hour. There was a cute embroidery store on Rua Agustin that customizea Chef hats, aprons, baby clothes etc. 👩🏽‍🍳 Pink Street is party central so be prepared for crowds, noise, and vomit 🤢 Better for group trips than a solo endeavor.

Location is fantastic being quietly removed from throngs of tourists, but close enough to public transport to get where you need to be. Many Asian restaurants in this area also 🍙

Room Features 🛋️: A grand bath tub, spacious wardrobe areas, and wide desk. The windows and bath have privacy drapes you can operate electronically. Also features a Nespresso machine ☕

Public Transport 🚆: 15 min via bus to Baixa (Commercio Square, Santa Justa Lift, Rua Agustin). 50-60 min and at least one transfer to Belem Tower (or 15 min Uber to save time). 20 min via train to the airport.En savoir plus
