    100 degrees in Boston

    August 14, 2016 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 27 °C

A scorcher of a day, even at I'll this evening it was 94 degrees and incredibly hot and sticky here. We began the day with the best blueberry muffin ever for breakfast at UDG, fresh out of the oven and still hot 😊Our sightseeing began at a festival in Chinatown celebrating the August moon. The sun was so hot, even at 10am, it was enjoyable to see but we couldn't stand out in it too long. We headed out past (one of) the supposed location for the Boston Tea Party before going to Faneuil Hall to escape the heat and listen to two talks from NPS Park Rangers - one about the Boston Massacre and Tea Party, and one about Paul Revere. Both were outstanding; the events the NPS lays on are very impressive, even more so for being free. Both were supposed to be walking tours and talks but given the heat they cancelled the walking bit (they also closed Bunker Hill Monument, as they did Friday, so we were lucky we visited yesterday). The Black Heritage Trail proved an interesting half hour walk for the late afternoon before returning to Faneuil Hall to take part in a recreated town hall debate on the Stamp Act...we even had speaking parts! We couldn't resist returning to UDG for dinner, who cook equally impressive pizzas. Our final evening here entailed a sticky sweaty walk to see the original exterior to Cheers. Boston's been great, but the heat has been overbearing!Read more
