Garden Route Game Lodge Day 2 Part 2

    April 22 in South Africa ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Too many photos, too little time!

The first picture id actually the gps tracking of all our game drives! Whaaaat?!?!

Part two of day 2 included a full body massage. We became one with the marshmallow...

Neither of us have ever had a massage like that and will happily return!

The picture with "Berta" is the selfie we took and sent to the couple we met.

Did you know the horns of the buck are made of keratin? So did we, but what we didn't know is that once the animal decomposes a bit, the horn comes off leaving the bone underneath! How cool? Thanks to Robyn for showing us! (Hope you win the horn competition!)

Garden Route Game Lodge Day 2 part 1

    April 22 in South Africa ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

We had Martel's partner, Robyn as our guide for the day. Stunning lady!!

The following pictures are all from the game drive and a little bit of the walk we did! Unfortunately we cannot share some of the amazing pics, but we will just say we saw some incredible sights!!

For the walk, we were driven to the new giraffe's section - no predators - before disembarking and starting our walk. We managed to do about 6km! Not bad!

We saw some very skittish Kudu and some odds and ends (beehives, flightless dungbeetles and a shongololo《millipede》with the raddest raving stripes hehe).

    Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary

    April 21 in South Africa ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

    Nikkis favourite animal.

Nick kept her eyes closed from Knysna Belle to the sanctuary.

    Yes.. yes she did cry!

The wolves loved her and so did the huskies. Safe to say she would happily live there. 😆 the wolves loved Nick's shoe for some unknown reason! They kept trying to chew it off him 😆

Our guide was so passionate about the wolves and animals, we were so honoured to have him as our teacher.

    April 19 in South Africa ⋅ 🌧 16 °C

We were the only people booked in at Lemon 3 so the owner said we should go to Kronenhoff on him.

So awesome. Really good food and awesome service. Glad we got the opportunity to go out tonight on this cold and wet evening.Read more

    Lemon 3 Lodge

    April 19 in South Africa ⋅ 🌧 17 °C

    Tonight's stop: Lemon 3 Lodge.

It does not look like much on the outside, but on the inside?

Stunning little place! Amazing facilities, small pool and perfect for lounging around.

Owner is such a great character and so happy to help out. He's even given us a few places to visit whilst here!

He told us he was stuck in Holland for 14 weeks! #thanksCOVID. And we are his first guests in over 14 months! How hectic has the impact of COVID been?

    Addo Elephant National Park

    April 19 in South Africa ⋅ 🌧 17 °C

    Next stop: Addo Elephant Park!

The day was cold... the day was rainy... but the day was a memorable one!

We had elephants walk about 1m away from our car. Such a privilege when she had her young one with us. She did give Nikki the side eye, but thankfully she moved on.

We laughed a lot with the rain - taking picture of the jackal involved both of us getting wet. But so worth it!!

    Loved the Interpretative Centre.
HOW BIG IS HAPOOR?!?! Always love learning about the natural history and stuff.
