    Attend a social gathering with special entertainment with Vito Pizzo. Vito lives in our hood. He worked as a big band saxophone player. A 50 year career with 30 years in Las Vegas. Vito is now 96 years old and still a joy to listen too.Read more

    Desert X 2025 is a biennial, site-specfic, international art exhibition that takes place in Coachella Valley. The exhibition features 11 large-scale outdoor art installations.
    Our first stop is a feature we drive by often. It is named Truth Arrives in Slanted Beams.There are always lots of influencers at these sites. They are doing all kinds of poses for their Instagram and TikTok sites.Read more

  • Palm Springs Tram

    We joined Phil, Julia and Oleg for the Tram ride . A 10 minute ride and 2.5 miles. The Tram rotates as you make your journey. Starting at 2,643 ft., landing at 8,516 ft.
    Still some snow in shaded areas. Walking paths are refreshing change from the valley floor, with the tall pine trees and lovely pine smells. Great views of Coachella Valley.Read more

  • Desert Hot Springs

    Desert Hot Springs features three Desert Xs installations.

    The Act of Being Together - Invites visitors to contemplate the concept of togetherness. The marble slabs were moved from a site in Mexico.

    Soul Service Station. Artwork is a gas station. At this site, there was an interpreter. He really helped to understand all the nuances that the artist used.

    To Breathe. Concept focuses on the breath and it's connection to the Desert environment. Okay!! At first view of the site, we were unimpressed. But then as you approach and wonder around in side the colors were amazing.

  • Sunnylands

    Sunnylands is known as a place of history, hospitality, and diplomacy. There are 2 distinct sections, the gardens and visitors center, which are free. Then, the estate that offers a guided tour. The Palo Verde trees that line the entrance were full yellow bloom.
    Sunnylands visit was to view Desert X art, a Living Pyramid. The Pyramid represents Camp David of the America West, where leaders have met to promote world peace.

    Another Desert X adventure.

    This took us to the Augustine Reservation of Cahuilla Band. What we discovered about the Band was enlightened. The Band is located on one square mile track of land. There are 19 Band members, 7 adults, 12 children. On the land is a Casino and Temalpakh Market. The market sells organic products and variety items grown on their land.

  • Palm Springs

    Desert X
    Only visited 2 sites of the 5 in Palm Springs. This is the last weekend of Desert X.

    Unsui (Mirror) features two towering sequin sculptures. Standing 30 feet tall, the sequin-covered clouds shift with the sunlight and wind.

    Adobe Oasis
    The artist brought Adobe Oasis to life through a unique 3D printing process, creating structures from entirely mud.

    Five things you can't wear on tv
    On Monday, we stopped by the site.
    Uses a black woven polymer fiber, originally designed fire hose. Tension holds this flat band of material between two distance points. Taut material oscillates in the wind.

  • Desert Flowers

    May 14 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

    This season, there have been some amazing flowering cactus. The cactus in our driveway will start opening in the evening and by morning, fully opened. By the afternoon starting to die.
    Our neighbors cactus flowers at night. Flowers start blooming after 9 pm and will close sometime around 7 am.

    Other neighbors have a Prickly Pear Cactus. Another interesting cactus.

    And yes, we have even had rain this year.
