    Hospital and packing day

    24 oktober 2024, Nederland ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Getting ready for an another month of travelling but first cuddles for Michael, Askur and Embla

  • 20h flight to Perth (Over Doha)

    26 oktober 2024, Australië ⋅ 🌬 21 °C

I left home in a bit of a rush, feeling stressed because my suitcase was already overpacked. I had no idea what I’d brought that was so heavy! Last-minute repacking nearly made me miss my train.

Fortunately, I arrived at Schiphol with enough time to check in smoothly with Qatar Airways. Without lounge access this time (no KLM flight), I grabbed some McDonald’s fries—totally unaware that I’d be getting plenty of food on the plane.

We had a 40-minute delay, but no worries; the first leg was a manageable six hours. I’m a good sleeper, especially with my travel pills. I watched a documentary called *Wild Beauty*, an oad to the wild mustangs in the U.S. and how bureaucracy threatens them. It was so moving, I ended up in tears. After that, I needed something lighter, so I switched to *Late Bloomers*, which was just okay. I managed to squeeze in three hours of sleep, too.

Our late arrival in Doha shortened my layover from three hours to just 1.5, which flew by with all the security checks and customs. I couldn’t even take a photo of the huge KAWS statue because my phone was dead (I added on from.the Internet)—I’d forgotten to charge it the night before. We have two smaller KAWS figures at home,

The second leg, a 10-hour flight to Perth, was much the same—two hot meals, plus drinks and snacks, most of which I missed because I slept six solid hours, plus another two off and on. I only got through half of *The Intern* before nodding off again.

One highlight was my seat: it was incredibly comfortable, with no seat in front of me, so I could stretch my legs out fully under my blanket.

Once we landed in Australia, we had to declare our goods. Unsure if I’d packed a necklace with wooden beads and a shell, I checked “yes,” just to be safe. The customs officers laughed and actually appreciated that I’d read the form thoroughly!

I immediately ran into Gwydion, who had just arrived too. We picked up an Australian SIM card, grabbed a taxi, and headed to the hotel. I had the room to myself for the night and crashed by 9:30 p.m.

  • Off - day in Perth

    28 oktober 2024, Australië ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

I woke up around 3:45—probably a mix of jet lag and the fact that I’d already had plenty of sleep: 14+ hours on the plane and another 7 at the hotel. My body just had enough rest. I took my time in bed, but eventually got up around 9, craving breakfast, especially some eggs. So, I went for a quick run and found a place to eat.

Afterward, I decided to look for a camera store to check out lenses. I only brought my 35mm and 50mm lenses, and with my 300mm zoom still back in France, I knew I’d want more range for biking photos. I found a secondhand 18–105mm lens, which seemed perfect for the trip and opened up some new possibilities.

Later, I met up with Maria, Killian, and Brit, and we walked to Kings Park—a great chance to test out the new lens. When we arrived, Jess and Marcus joined us for a stroll through the botanical gardens, where we spotted some amazing birds and plants.

Maria and I decided to catch an Uber back to the hotel, but on the way, I noticed some sun flares I couldn’t resist capturing. I popped back into the camera store to see if they had a lens hood. They didn’t, but they suggested another shop, where I discovered a better lens than the one I’d just bought. It was only a few hours later, so I returned the first lens and upgraded to a more versatile 18–200mm—ideal for the entire trip.

Back at the hotel, I grabbed my laptop to catch up on admin work for the Eivor tour and plan the upcoming New Zealand trip with Michael. I treated myself to a cocktail by the pool while I worked.

Dinner was pizza, followed by a much-needed massage to tackle some serious tension in my neck that had been triggering headaches.

Chloé arrived in the evening, and since we’re sharing a room, I gave her some space to settle in. Meanwhile, I caught up with Ruben.

By 11:00 p.m., I was ready to turn in and see how long I’d sleep this time.

  • Rehearsals day Perth

    29 oktober 2024, Australië ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Today was rehearsal day here in Perth! We took a shuttle out of the city and got straight to work, helping unload the truck so the sound team could start setting up for the show. After that, we headed out for a quick coffee and shopping break—everyone was visibly tired and still jetlagged, but the energy was good.

Rehearsals went smoothly, with plenty of time to prepare for two new songs. Lots of laughs and great moments with everyone!

In the evening, I grabbed dinner at a Chinese food court with Bella and Kai, then waited to welcome Team Eivør after their long 40-hour journey to Australia.

Now, it’s off to bed to get ready for tomorrow’s first show!

  • Showday: Red Hill Auditorium Perth

    30 oktober 2024, Australië ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Today started a bit rough—I woke up with another intense migraine. After a good amount of painkillers, it finally started to ease up. Chloe and I headed out early to grab a quick bite and some much-needed coffee before our shuttle.

The venue was about a 40-minute drive out of the city, set in a beautiful nature area (and yes, we’d been warned about the poisonous spiders and snakes, we had to relocate one particularly bold spider from the backstage area!) The outdoor stage was amazing, surrounded by greenery, with a cozy backstage area and plenty of space to relax. We took a quick walk around the trails to spot any wildlife.

Later, Chloe, Bella, and I had a mini hair-styling session backstage, which was such a highlight. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by these two; we had a blast helping each other get ready, and Nadia even joined for some fun hairstyles.

Before our set, I caught part of Eivør’s show. We were also honored to have a traditional Aboriginal opening before our performance (with a bit of an unexpected twist when he nearly set the stage on fire by accident or at least not known to us—but it was incredible to share that moment with him).

The show itself was a blast! You could feel the energy from everyone—even some laughter during the set, which made it unforgettable.

Afterward, I reconnected with my friend Robin, who’s traveling in Australia right now. Chloe and I decided to skip the showers at the venue and head back to the hotel, leading to some funny moments at the hotel reception! 😄

  • Travelday Pert - Adelaide

    31 oktober 2024, Australië ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

Oops, my suitcase is already too heavy! I need to find a way to shed some items. Thankfully, Australia has a special artist allowance, so I can travel with a bit extra!

At the airport, we tried this strange “beauty shot”—we’ll see if it actually does anything, haha.

Everyone was spread out on the plane, and I ended up in row 3, which I definitely preferred. As usual, I slept through the entire flight.

  • First night out in Adelaide

    31 oktober 2024, Australië ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

When we arrived in Adelaide, I joined Team Eivør—Chris, Hanna, Martin, and Finn—at a fancy spot known for its amazing meat and wine. It was incredible!

Sadly, I lost one of my favorite earrings along the way.

Later, we squeezed in a small Halloween celebration at a Chinese bar—the only place still open since everything here closes so early! We had a few cocktails.

Unfortunately, I learned back home my baby girl Embla got missing, so I had been stressed out a lot, texting all the neighbours trying to find her. Luckily, she came home at some point...

  • Off day Adelaide part II: Waterfalls

    1 november 2024, Australië ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

Luuk rented a car and mapped out a plan for the day, so we decided to hop in and go exploring! Our first stop was Morialta Falls. Right at the beginning of the walk to the falls, we spotted our first koala of the trip, just chilling in a tree beside the path. Later on, we even came across three rare black kookaburra.

Our next destination was Waterfall Gully, where we set off on another amazing hike through stunning, lush scenery.

I was thrilled to have my new lens with me, so I could capture some truly great photos!

  • Off day Adelaide prt III: Sellicks Beach

    1 november 2024, Australië ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Our next stop was Sellicks Beach. We had a lunch break before heading down. The beach was stunning, known for its unique rock formations. We planned to explore them but ended up focusing on the sand, collecting amazing shells and stones as souvenirs or for stage wear—if customs allowed it.

On our way back, Chloe spotted her first kangaroo. I might have seen one too, but I’m not totally sure.

Back at the hotel, we quickly visited the market. Since it was almost closing, we only got a brief look around.

  • Travel day to Melbourne

    3 november 2024, Australië ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Another travel day meant another "beauty" shot. The flight itself was easy, though the pills knocked me out completely.

Melbourne feels like a fibrant place, a better mix of that UK - USA - Asian blend.

Once we arrived, we finally got to try the amazing sushi Bella had been raving about for months. It was a unique Japanese sushi experience, unlike anything I’d ever had, with the best sashimi I’ve tasted.

The flight was bumpy, but thankfully I had my travel pills and managed to knock myself out for a bit—a relief after a night filled with unsettling dreams.

Enjoyed some delicious sushi and a cozy evening with Ruben and Chloé. Our hotel room? Two floors of pure comfort—seriously impressive!Meer informatie
