Stockholm to HelsinkiAugust 15, 2017 in Åland Islands
I should be able to imagine a better title for this post given the beautiful scenery I'm passing. I'm on the aptly named Symphony, crossing majestically (slowly) through the myriad islands of the Swedish coastline, every bit as good as Slartibartfast's Norwegian coastline! This ferry is enormous.
Awake again, 7 am Finnish /Russian time. About to breakfast. Vast sea outside my window dotted with a few other ships. Slept well till 1.30 am then again from 5-6. We dock at 10 and reboard our coach for an included tour of Helsinki (Piotr speak) before having free time. Avoiding the over priced optional dinners. The Vasa museum tour was overpriced too- $100 for huge crowds. Still, could be worse. I might be working! Thought of a better title for pueblos entry so the wakefulness was not all wasted.
Still waiting for Tess so will write more about the boat. We slept on the 9th deck in a mini suite with a view but no comfortable way to see it. Fold out bed was comfortable. All is quiet at 7.20 am as I write but we had some noisy Swedish yobs last night from below decks run through our corridor noisily. Their Swedish japes were wasted on me but not their intentions.
Included dinner was big on quantity, less so on quality but handled vast crowds efficiently.
Time now for breakfast.Read more
