Mostar to Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina

    July 27, 2017 in Bosnia and Herzegovina ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

We caught the 11am bus to Sarajevo. I'm glad I bought the tickets the night before as the bus was chockers. We arrived in to Sarajevo about 130pm and caught a taxi to the hotel. He was really nice and didn't rip us off unlike Mostar.
We checked in and then went for a wander to the Old Town. We found a place for a delicious lunch, pottered around a bit more then went back to the hotel for a siesta 😴 In the evening we went back to town for dinner and more looking around, I bought sunnies and a watch. Oopsies 🤗 The walk in to town is easy but its pretty steep walking back 😫😢😩

    HOTEL - Hotel Herc
    BONUS - Upgrade!
ROOM - Good size, newly renovated, air conditioning, TV
    INCLUSIONS - WiFi & breakfast
LOCATION - Short walk to town but steep coming back, market down the bottom of the street.

Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Day 4)

    July 26, 2017 in Bosnia and Herzegovina ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Slept in again today. We must just be exhausted!
We got ready to go out and explore but it poured and poured, we made a run for it but as far as we got was the restaurant we ate at the night before. We decided to stop there and have some food, fries and Nutella crepes for me! Yum! 🍮
We then went back to the room as the rain wasn't going away. 🌩️🌨️🌧️ Later in the afternoon we went out again once it had stopped. Q bought some more shoes and I got an adorable pair for Hettie! 😍😍😍

Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Day 3)

    July 26, 2017 in Bosnia and Herzegovina ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Q got up at the crack of dawn to go for a hike. I was feeling extremely crook, I think from something I ate so I wasn't going anywhere. He came back about 915am, I kept sleeping and woke again after midday. I was feeling better so I got ready and we went out. We had thunderstorms through the night but it didn't last and it was scorching hot again. We found a cafe for lunch and had some local cuisine. We then wandered a bit more before sitting a a dodgey bar for a beer that did have the best view of the bridge. In this time we watched two divers jumped. We headed back to the hotel to relax for a bit as a storm rolled through. We then went out for a delicious dinner, it was actually a bit chilly outside! Wandered the markets a bit more, so many things I'd love to buy! 😍Read more

Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Day Two)

    July 24, 2017 in Bosnia and Herzegovina ⋅ ⛅ 33 °C

Had a fabulous sleep in! In the early afternoon we went to town, literally a 30 second walk - amazing! We wandered through some of the markets before sitting down for lunch. We then wandered more of the streets and climbed down to see the Stari Most bridge. We sat and watched some tourists learning to dive. We sat long enough and decided to head to the supermarket as it was stinking hot. We relaxed for a bit and ate our salad we bought for dinner. Then we went for another stroll through the markets and across the bridge on the other side.Read more

    Dubrovnik to Mostar

    July 23, 2017 in Bosnia and Herzegovina ⋅ ☀️ 34 °C

Had to check out at 10am, woke up as a zombie from yesterday. We headed down to Old Town to find a spot to swim. We thought on the side of the cliffs would be nice due to where the sun was. 🌞🌞 However by the time we found the entrance and the steep entrance (or lack of) we decided to just have a drink at the bar instead. 🍹
We walked around to the swimming spots near the Old Port that weren't actually too busy. We jumped in, it was nice and refreshing but the water to me just feels yucky and smelly.
We sat for a while to dry out and then headed to the delicious kebab shop we saw the previous day. When we got there the line was really long and there were no prices so can only assume it was expensive. Like last night, we thought we'd get WokInABox but they were nearly $20... Each!
We then chose a restaurant to have a more fulfilling meal (as I write this my stomach is rumbling). Q had squid, I had seafood risotto - both yum and with cold beers!
We then started the trek back to our hotel, we stopped at the supermarket for drinks and an icypole. Yummy. When we got back to the hotel we grabbed our bags and booked an Uber.
Our bus was due to depart at 4pm but didn't leave until at least 5.25pm 😬😬
We then got held up at the border as there were a few buses in and then there was an accident so that slowed things down. Arrived in Mostar around 9-930pm, over two hours late!
Taxi driver ripped us off, so I was pretty firm on not paying the whole amount, I won.

    HOTEL - Pansion Nur
ROOM - Good size room, clean and comfortable, air conditioning, TV.
INCLUSIONS - WiFi, transfers if they're available
BONUS - Beautiful view, mum's homemade ice-cream (unlimited supply) and absolutely lovely host family.
LOCATION - Couldn't imagine a better location, literally on the doorstep of the Old Town and Stari Most.

    Montenegro Day Tour (Day Three)

    July 22, 2017 in Montenegro ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

We were up bright and early for the tour bus to collect us from the cable car station at 0735am. The air conditioning didn't work great so that wasn't fun. We set off for the Montenegro border, it didn't take too long to go through, the guide yesterday said it took 3 hours. 😮 Once through we had our first stop (I'll have to Google the name later) for a brief stop, there was an option to catch a boat out to the island but be chose not to and just walk down the waterfront.
Back on the bus and we arrived at Kotor around 1130am where we had a two hour stop, the MSC Musica cruise ship was in port - it was huge but a beauty! 😍🛳️ We stopped at a local bar to have a drink as I needed to use the loo! We pottered around the town and then the waterfront but probably didn't need that long there.
Another 30 minute drive we arrived at Budva, definitely has a Nightlife scene. As you walk down the road next to the beachfront you'll notice lots of outdoor dance clubs. Looked like fun! We chose a restaurant for lunch, risotto (fried rice) and a burger. We then headed to old town for a swim. By the time we found the entrance we could only jump in for a few minutes but it was lovely! Definitely somewhere we'd consider staying for a longer duration. We started the walk back to the bus and hopped onboard the sauna. We caught a ferry across to cut 30km off the trip. The border took a bit longer than the way over but not too bad compared to the line going the other way - it was HUGE!
We arrived back at our hotel at some time... 730pm maybe, I was knackered but dragged myself up & down the stairs to get dinner. Straight into bed when I got back and had eaten. 😴😴😴

    Korcula to Dubrovnik, Croatia

    July 20, 2017 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Our ferry department was at 10.10am, however it was a bit late. The ferry seemed to be over capacity, more passengers than seats. We were about to give up in finding seats and just sit on the floor until a steward ordered us to follow him, turns out we headed straight to the VIP LOUNGE. Top of the ferry, right at the front, nice big comfortable seats, not a bad way to spend the two hour ride.
When we arrived, I managed to get some Wifi where I realised the port was not in walking distance to the hotel. I booked an Uber but the internet cut out so it cancelled, but lucky enough we were able to get another one.
We checked into the hotel and then headed out to find a supermarket. So many steps downs, my legs were on fire walking back up. Around 4pm we decided to have a nap. I didn't wake up early until 8pm, and Q 9pm. There was no point going out now so we had cereal for dinner and still managed to sleep okay considering our long nap.

    HOTEL - Apartments Astrid
ROOM - Okay size, bit small, clean but ants easily find their way in. Private balcony. Not much of a view unfortunately due to buildings in front.
    INCLUSIONS - Wifi
LOCATION - Not too far into Old Town but the walk back was steep with alot of steps 😫😭

Slept in a tiny bit then had a lazy morning followed by exploring the beautiful old town. It's gorgeous! We sat down for a while to admire the view.
