    Capitol Hill

    August 28, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

This morning I walked towards the office which is in the neighbourhood of Captiol Hill in Seattle. On this day there haven't been many co-workers in the office but I was introduced to some of them. They have a really nice environment and the best coffee machine I have ever seen in a workplace :-) The office is in an old building which is over 100 years old. We (the colleague which took me to the Sounders and myself) worked very hard the whole day and went to have lunch on the ground floor of the building as there is a fancy café. As it was getting late after work we went for having dinner right away. It was in a mexican restaurant where I didn't have a burger but a fish taco which tasted awesome. Afterwards I decided to have a calm evening (the first one since the trip started) and bought a beer. I enjoyed the beer in front of the TV zapping through a lot of channels. Then I went to bed relatively early to be fit for the next day. This seemed to be a good plan...Read more

    Apple Store in Tacoma

    August 29, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

... and of course it didn't work out at all: I woke up and thought of nothing bad as I had a look on my watch: 10:13 AM!!! Oh my god, could this be true that I slept so long? Unfortunately yes, this happened because I forgot to put on an alarm. My body was so tired that I could have slept even longer, I suppose. I went to work as fast as I could, started to get everything done and made plans to save the lost time in other ways. I worked one hour longer than planned and I would start to work tomorrow one hour earlier which should be enough to cover all important topics. For lunch some colleagues went with me to a japanese burger place where you can eat fried burgers which were really tasty. After work my colleague took me to an Apple Store in Tacoma: Finally I was able to buy my new iPad! Unfortunately this included a 10% sales tax which made it more expensive than expected but it still quite ok. After this was goal was achieved my colleague showed me his house which he bought recently when he moved from Seattle to Tacoma. I was also introduced to his dog Bella which already greeted us directly when we have entered the house. She is really a playful dog. Then we went having dinner in a seafood restaurant where you can sit on a deck next to the Puget Sound. The sun went down very quickly. After dinner I took the bus back to Seattle. I had to pack all my stuff together to be prepared to leave on the next day.Read more

    Going back home

    August 30, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

I got up at 6:45 AM and it worked! I grabbed all my stuff and left for the office. My co-worker was also there at that early time and so we were able to cover the rest of our topics. Unfortunately I had to leave already shortly after 10 AM. I took the lightrail to the airport and arrived there 40 minutes later. I have planned enough time if there would be a big crowd already waiting. But this time everything went really smoothly and I got to my gate over one hour before the boarding time. I had to wait and during that I felt like being in Asia instead of USA. There were so many Asian people because all other gates next to mine were served by Chinese airlines and the gates did a lot of loudspeaker announcements in Mandarin. But then there was boarding time finally. The flight time was about 9 hours. I watched two movies and had dinner including two beers. Then I tried to sleep which is always not so easy for me. The plane arrived on time in Frankfurt and then I had a connecting flight to Munich one hour later. Once I have arrived Munich I already had to wait quite long for the baggage but the situation at the rental car counter was just crazy. It felt like waiting forever. After over 1,5 (!!!) hour I finally got my car. Never ever Europcar again. Unfortunately this was the choice from my company. During the drive back to Ravensburg it started raining heavily and it didn't stop until I have arrived at my flat. Now it is over bit it was an awesome trip to the USA and I am looking forward for the next one which hopefully happens :-)Read more
