  • Hvar Vrboska to Brac Milna

    July 4, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Returning to the place it all began in June 2020 and we took ownership of GypsyDjango. I wonder if this is the reason this place feels so important.

A good 5 hour day of sailing which after so many days of rest felt pretty spectacular 👏. There is something special about being out there with the sound of the wind in the sails.Read more

  • Spinut to Split Harbour to Pakleni

    July 16, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

And off we go. Ready and excited for the beginning of 6 days of sailing and adventure. A good route has been chosen and GypsyDjango has never sparkled as brightly as she does now. Thanks to a newly discovered cleaning product and the generosity of the Captain in Spinut Harbor allowing us access to the dock for water 👏💕Read more

  • Palmizana to Vis back to Duboka Vela

    July 17, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Shew. A good night on Pakleni and a good run in the morning. Then off to Vis expecting a trip under engine to encounter 30kt winds and a first for GypsyDjango- a retreat back to Pakleni. A good call as the conditions were worsening and Vis is a largely un sheltered Island. We do have a lot of fun though in these conditions but safety first.Read more

  • Milna to Pakleni Uvala Tarsce

    July 24, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

And so a pattern seems to be emerging, good tequila, many laughs, a late night, a morning detox run and a great day sailing. Making new friends in the bay and joining their boat for cocktails was a fun experience and added to this special holiday. Sunset drinks at over priced Palmizana and a perfect dinner at Dionis. After 16 trips to Tarsce bay and wanting to eat at Dionis, we finally made it. 116 photos taken - you know it was an exceptional day.Read more

  • Pakleni Uvala Tarsce to Hvar to Duboka V

    July 25, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Of course Mother Nature dictates and after the much anticipated meeting of Lucy our plans to travel to Vis are abandoned and we return to a bay on the north of Pakleni to hide out from the winds. Feeling a little sorry for Lucy jumping into an existing party she more than proved she could jump with both feet into the tequila week. Off on a high speed water taxi to Hvar we proved we could party like the teens. Clearly this mornings detox run helped 😉Read more

  • Pakleni Duboka Vela to Stari Grad

    July 26, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

Feeling a little tender and the punch of Hvar, convinced the last drink could have been avoided- off we went for that detox run. Then a good sail to Stari Grad. Unfortunately the town quay ended up being full so we were fortunate to be allowed for a quick stop to fill up with water and tie up to a small pier outside town for the night. Our anchor decided to give up the ghost on Pakleni so after Matt and Kev put their backs into it and pulled up by hand - a mooring by line was handy. A lovely day and perfect night.Read more

  • Stari Grad to Brac Uvala Smrka

    July 27, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

Today was a rinse and repeat of the fun and laughter and the feeling the trip was moving too quickly. A hike up to the lookout point followed by coffee and croissants made the morning. As we were not able to get to the submarine bunker at Vis we sailed to Uvala Smrka - a smaller version for a quieter afternoon.Read more

  • Solta Necujam to Duga to Trogir

    July 29, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

With very heavy hearts and disbelief that time had flown quite so quickly, we left Necujam and sailed to Duga for some wake surfing and irritation of our fellow yacht men neighbours. Knowing tonight would be an excellent dinner at Capo in Trogir made it easier. A well fixed anchor which wasn’t really broken, we headed out easily on our way for our final party night 🎉 .Read more

  • Trogir to Spinut to Solta

    July 30, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

And just like that what started such a short time ago ended too quickly. A very sad farewell to Becs and three new wonderful friends. What an epic journey. Off to spinut for groceries and then Solta to catch up on some sleep- definitely needed possibly not deserved. It was such an exceptional trip and one to never be forgotten. Having the downtime of letting my hair down and being a little crazy was great!Read more

  • Solta Uvala Kasjun to Necujam

    August 1, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

A night in this little bay and our first visit. A hike/run to get food in the morning and then move GypsyDjango because of the lack of protection from swell so we moved next door to Necujam. We anchored in Necujam no lines ashore and found out this was party bay. Bad winds drove us to move again within the bay to find out our anchor motor was done. So time to install the new motor before the move to a sheltered part of the bay.Read more

  • Split to Duboka Vela

    August 4, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

A long day of engine with no winds which we know are on their way with a vengeance. Choosing a bay north of the Pakleni Islands and mooring with extra lines ashore to combate the famous scirocco winds. Interesting encounter with some Italians refusing to let us anchor as they were part of a flotilla taking up the entire side of the bay. After dropping our anchor and avoiding theirs we got to meet and advise the feisty Italians we were no where close to theirs. The other corner of the bay was taken by a catamaran who anchored parallel to the rocks with a sideways second anchor. Seeing this was a first.Read more

  • Solta to Split

    August 4, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

And off we head after intensive boat cleaning to split. I am in a good space and my Captain and I are well recovered after our 8 day party where we discovered that partying and sailing GypsyDjango is fairly exhausting. Back on the virgin cocktails and appreciating my coffee mornings ✨👏Read more

  • Pakleni Duboka Vela to Uvala Tarsce

    August 5, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Well it just goes to show why we have never seen that form of anchoring before. Early hours of the morning the scirocco winds became Mistral and fortunately we were moored well enough to cater for the switch from South East to North West. But the conditions had become unpleasant in this bay and it was time to move to the south of the island. Noticing the panic in the corner we saw the catamaran had been blown onto the rocks and was now stuck. We took up anchor and tried to assist but the owner had turned the catamaran around with help of the boat next to him and was facing the wrong way ro be pulled out of the corner. After refusing our assistance we motored to the south to anchor in a perfect bay.Read more
