Here are a few sights near my hotel.
I slept over 11 hours last night! When I finally got up and moving I decided to take a hop on hop off bus tour to get an overview of the city.
The only place where I hopped off was at Belém Tower,Read more
After I finished the bus tour I wandered around a bit and spotted my first Camino arrows on one of the narrow winding streets. The yellow arrows are for Santiago and the blue for Fatima. From LisbonRead more
The sidewalks in Lisbon are beautifully paved with stone mosaic designs.
There's even an area with statues of two of masons setting the stone mosaics.
I met up with Nick and Wendy, a couple who live here in Lisbon that I met through the Camino forum.
After a little tour we enjoyed some drinks and dinner.
Nervous excitement coupled with not quite being in sync with this time zone led to a mostly sleepless night.
On top of that, Nick had agreed to walk part way with me today, so I was worried aboutRead more

Vila Franca de Xira is known for its Bullfighting ring, and holds a "running of the bulls" in October similar to that in Pamplona.
There are some wonderful buildings here with lovely tile work, mostRead more
Today was shortish, but kind of a slog. No nice riverside trail. Lots of walking on the road or alongside railroad tracks. And it's heating up. It's about 90° today, but I was done walking a littleRead more

Barbara Brown Flight delays?
Traveler My flight to London from Denver was super delayed, so I had to change the itinerary and fly Denver - Boston - London - Lisbon. And I had to leave 4.5 hours earlier than planned. I was talking to the United agent as I carried my bags upstairs at Ryan's house and called for an Uber to take me to the airport! It wasn't the lovely, relaxed pre-flight day I had planned. But in the end I made it here, and the flight from Boston to London was strangely empty. Most people had a whole row of seats to themselves.
Well yay..re the full seat did you stretch out & take a nap [Chris]
