  • Stockholm, Day Two, Skyview

    At 9:30am this morning we took an excursion to the Stockholm Skyview, where we entered a small glass sphere, were hoisted to the summit of the giant arena sphere and then rotated about the top seeing a 360 degree view of Stockholm.

  • Two Sea Days

    May 1–2, 2025, Baltic Sea ⋅ ☀️ 46 °F

    Day One at sea: Men's Breakfast, bingo, and trivia. We avoided formal night by taking dinner at the poolside Grill Restaurant.

    Day Two, we are sailing by Copenhagen (again) on the way to Oslo, Norway. Dinner tonight with Ravi and Kala. We saw the 6,000-passenger AIDA Nova passenger ship in Copenhagen.

    We were entertained by the MacDonald Brothers! Two Scottish gents who brought us the Beach Boys (among many others).

    Our excursion this morning is highlighted by an excursion to the National Museum.

    Among many extraordinary masterpieces, mainly by Northern European masters we observed a magnificent copy of DaVinci 's Mona Lisa - a copy rendered at the time of the original by an intern of Leonardo DaVinci.Read more

  • Oslo, Day Two, Part 2

    Our final day in awesome Oslo, we took the "Best of Oslo" excursion.
    One of our visits included the Norwegian Folk Museum's building collection - open air museum - situated in a beautiful forest, consisting of 181 buildings dating from the Middle Ages to the present day.

    One of Norway's 28 stave churches was located among the buildings.

  • Torshavn, Faroe Islands, Denmark

    We arrived at the North Atlantic Oceans' 18-island group at 8am and promptly joined our excursion. The Faroe Islands are located between Scotland and Iceland.
    Only about 20,000 population, beautiful and cold!

    Our little group of 28 walked through the old Town and finished the tour at the Faroe Islands National Museum ... beautiful and informative museum.

    Akureyri is Iceland's Capital of the North lying a mere 60 miles from the Artic Circle. We discovered a land of long fijords, roaring waterfalls, and soaring volcanoes.

  • Three Sea Days

    May 14–16, 2025, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ 🌬 46 °F

    Ahhh... a few days of rest. The Captain elected to avoid our next scheduled port (big waves preventing tendering) and continued on to Nuuk, the capital of Greenland.

    Along the way to Nuuk, we were treated to observations of Greenland's vast, snow-covered mountains butting up to the sea.Read more

  • Nuuk, Greenland

    May 17–18, 2025 in Greenland ⋅ 🌬 41 °F

    Nuuk (population 20,000), is the capital of Greenland (population 50,000).

    We took the shuttle into town and shopped at the only shopping mall in the country, the Nuuk Shopping Center. Snow was layered about (there had been a sizeable snow storm just days before we arrived). Pretty good mall with lots of sports clothing stores.

    In the afternoon, we took an excursion, "Visit with a Family." We enjoyed a light Greenland snack while a young man regaled us with polar bear stories and songs of and by the Innuit population.

  • Nuuk, Day Two

    On our second day in Nuuk, we took the "Highlights of Nuuk" excursion. Enjoyable and short...Nuuk is one of the world's smallest capital cities, with a population of just 17,000 people.

    May 19–20, 2025, Labrador Sea ⋅ 🌬 39 °F

    Day 1: Today we took a cooking class! Tonight is a special Indian Dinner with Ravi, Kala, Faye, Joe, Tim, John, Sandy etc.

    Day 2: On our way to the "foggiest and windiest" city in Canada, St. John's.

    This evening, we had a nice Atlantide dinner with John and Sandy, and finished off the night with opera tenor extraordinaire, Marco Romano.

  • St. John's, Day Two

    Today, we joined the geology tour, spending about one and a half hours walking through the geology museum dedicated to the study of local geology; later, just up the road, we revisited Signal Hill.

    The geology museum is the Johnson GEO CENTRE. It's built deep into ancient glacial bedrock on Signal Hill Road in St. John's.

    In the evening we enjoyed the comedy act of John Joseph - "Was I Going Up Or Down?"
