Today began with an excursion, "Jardin Du Roi & South Coast of Mahe".

The gardens were beautiful, nestled in the mountains above the sea. The gardens also featured turtles!

Today, we took a holiday from our holiday, spending the day at the Hilton Northolme Resort & Spa with Faye & Joe. The pool was perfect, and so was the setting!

We found ourselves about 200km east of a cyclone featuring five to seven-meter swells, winds 50 to 80 km/hr with 110 km/hr gusts!
This will impact our ability to get into Reunion.

Today, we took an excursion, "Island Wonders."

Our first stop was a colonial house (Eureka) and gardens, built in 1830. Thereafter, we bussed around the city to see the neighborhoods, buildings, and a lookout to take photographs. Next, we visited a beautiful, 300-year old botanical gardens to walk about. We finished by returning to the waterfront for a little shopping,Okumaya devam et

Today on March 3rd, JP worked on FindPenguins, exercised at the fitness facility, and attended a talk on international jihad.
We attended Formal Night at the Salt Restaurant.

Excursion: Day safari at the Amakhala Private Game Reserve -
elephants, rhinoceros, wildebeest, wart hogs, ostriches, zebras, gazelle, lion, African buffalo, giraffes, etc. Wow, up close.

At 8:45am, we took a coach about 90 minutes out of town, arriving at the Preserve. Our jeep fit about 10 plus the ranger. The road was very bumpy but fun. Fitbit recorded 12,000 steps just for sitting in the jeep!

Today, we walked throughout the historical little, dusty, rocky, and modestly colorful town of Ludertiz. We enjoyed the Maritime Museum and the Lutheran church.

Arriving early this morning, we opted to shop at the nearby Dunes Shopping mall - 80 stores. We were very pleasantly surprised! Overall, the little town is very much like a modern American town, but newer. Amazing!

For dinner, we attended a special dinner event in the desert - "Whispers of the Namib": 170 world cruisers treated to an African family-style dinner. One of the starters was worm larvae. Yuck. Not for us!

African serenade in the beautiful, cool, full-moon...

We returned to the ship at 12am after a one and a half hour drive back.Okumaya devam et

Two Sea Days

Sea Day #1 - We relaxed (ie. Cathy worked on school and I went to the fitness room). We joined bingo, 'placed' in trivia, and listened to classical guitarist Carlos Bonell.

For dinner, we joined the Sunday Fiesta Night, where we dined with Bill/Maryann, Joani/Art, and Bob/Twyla.

Day 2 - We started the day with a special breakfast at La Dame French restaurant. Thereafter, we relaxed, and eventually, the evening came upon us. We had dinner with Faye, Joe, and Sherrill. At 9:15pm we really enjoyed the comedian, Tony Daro. We laughed a ton!Okumaya devam et

Today, the "The Changing Faces of Luanda".

We visited the Iron Palace first today, It is believed to have been designed and built by – or by someone associated with – Gustave Eiffel, builder of the world-famous icons, the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Statue of Liberty in New York City.

Actually, no official record of it exists. It is believed to have been pre-built in the 1890s in France and was destined to be placed in Madagascar via boat. Instead, the building ended up in Angola's Skeleton Coast after the ship carrying it was grounded by the notorious Benguela Current. Portuguese rulers of the colony then claimed the ship along with all its contents, including the palace.

Next, we visited the Agostinho Neto Mausoleum. This obelisk-like concrete structure serves as the final resting place of Agostinho Neto, Angola's first president and national hero.

Today, we toured Accra, the capital of Ghana. We coached from the port city, Tema. Wow, broken and congested roads, lined by claptrap houses. We were escorted by motorcycle security, like our previous stop.

Today, we were scheduled for an excursion but decided to take the shuttle into the city instead. But...it was Sunday, so all the businesses were closed.

We returned to the ship and did a little shopping with the port vendors just outside the gangplank.
