Big Plastic Farm Animals

It's fun to see large roosters along the road, especially at locations that have nothing to do with poultry. This one is located at the entrance to a small shopping plaza containing a laundromat, an insurance agency, and a paint store. It has sunglasses strapped to its beak, and there is a cow and a pig nearby in the same parking lot to keep the rooster company.

- Tents, sun shelters, and canopies of all sizes are prohibited
- Single pole umbrellas with a diameter of 2.4m (8 feet) or less are allowed,
- Umbrellas must be erected in an upright position (not laying on the sand)
- Grand Bend Beach is smoke and vape-free
- No alcohol, glass or BBQs
- No dogs are allowed on the beach*
- Sports and sport equipment are not allowed on the main beach
- Single person and two person inflatables are allowed. All other larger inflatables are not allowed
*Dogs are not permitted on the main beach during the beach season (May 1 - September 30). Leashed dogs CAN be on the North and South beach from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. AND 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Parking is free in the Gill Road parking lot, the Municipal Drive parking lot (behind the Grand Bend Legion) and the Ontario Street parking lot (south of the Main intersection).

The Municipal Drive parking lot is available for RV parking, boat trailer parking and daily overnight parking ($10.00 fee for overnight).

You can purchase overnight parking passes for designated areas on HotSpot, at parking machines or at our office at 9577 Port Franks Road, Thedford. Overnight parking passes are $10.00 per night. Overnight parking is allowed at the Huron Avenue lot, Mid Town lot, and Municipal Drive lot (located behind the Grand Bend Legion).

Dutch Liberation Fountain

The Dutch-Canadian citizens of Goderich dedicated a water fountain in 1970 on the 25th anniversary of the Dutch liberation from the Nazis. This was their way to show their appreciation to all the Canadians who helped in the victory. The fountain is in front of the Goderich Visitor Centre and resembles four abstract figures holding raised hands.

Also near the Goderich Visitor Centre, is a large pair of wooden shoes, which serve as a step-in photo-op.

Salt Discovery Monument

In 1966, Sifto Salt erected a cairn marking the centennial of the discovery of salt in Goderich. The cairn sits on top of a bluff overlooking the town's harbour and salt mine. The cairn features a gigantic chunk of salt. A nearby plaque tells of the history of the discovery of salt in Goderich.
