Covering around 800 hectares, the forest was purchased and is managed by the local community to promote biodiversity, education, and sustainable land use.

    Warmed by the thought, I slipped into a tiny café tucked behind an antique bookshop, where the windows fogged up and the coffee steamed strong. A table by the window, a flaky pastry, and the sound of rain on glass—Edinburgh at its coziest.
